Charmaine Sheh and Shaun Tam Enjoy Table Reading for “News Anchorwoman”

Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) is currently busy filming TVB drama News Anchorwoman <新聞女王> along with Shaun Tam (譚俊彥), Kenneth Ma (馬國明), and Selena Lee (李施嬅). Knowing viewers highly anticipate Charmaine’s comeback, TVB is documenting every stage of filming, including the table reading.

TVB’s latest clips show Charmaine, Shaun, and producers Chung Cheng (鍾澍佳) and Kwan Man Sum (關文深) doing a table read. When Shaun joked to Charmaine that she did not have to say her lines so cutely, she replied, “It’s because I look very cool on TV, but I am feeling relaxed in front of you. It’s not to the point where I’m being coquettish.” The actress admitted to trying “different versions” of saying the dialogue at home, but still felt her lines sounded nauseating.

In preparation for her role, Charmaine revealed, “I did some training at the news department and practiced operating the character generator. It’s more difficult than I imagined because you have to look at the screen while also ensuring that your eyes are facing the front and all your lines are naturally delivered. The news anchors were very helpful with their advice, so I must thank them.”

Excited to work with Charmaine, Shaun said, “I just watched Charmaine complete her news reporting scene and I was completely immersed. It doesn’t even feel like she was acting!”

As for Selena, she shared, “I’ve read the script up to episode 15 and the story is intense and engaging. I think viewers will really enjoy it. My character is bold, confident, and fearless. She would criticize anyone no matter their status and views matters in a very black and white manner. She is a bit like myself, except I’m more soft-hearted.”
