Lee Seung Gi’s Home Stirs Mortgage Controversy Speculations
In the latest episode of Korean variety show, Free Doctor, the homes of celebrity couples Lee Seung Gi and Lee Da In; Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin, as well as Park Ji Yeon and Hwang Jae Gyun were introduced. The home that caught the public’s attention and stirred the most heated discussion was that of Lee Seung Gi and Lee Da In.
After dating for more than two years, Lee Seung Gi and Lee Da In tied the knot in April. The couple’s home is located in Seongbuk-dong, which is one of the wealthiest districts in Seoul. In addition to its prime location, the property also boasts a large parking lot that can easily accommodate a dozen cars.
A Korean media outlet pointed out that the home was purchased by Lee Seung Gi for 7.5 billion Korean won in 2021 with a loan amount of KRW 5.5 billion. At the time of purchase, investments in real estate were oversaturated, making it difficult for people who own multiple properties to apply for a residential mortgage loan. As a result, Lee Seung Gi allegedly applied for a commercial loan for this property. According to the real estate register, the basement floor is used as a cultural and event facility, while the two floors above ground are for neighborhood facilities, such as convenience stores.
If Lee Seung Gi and Lee Da In are using the building for residential purposes, then the commercial loan would need to be re-evaluated. In addition to repaying the loan amount in full, Lee Seung Gi may also face a fine of KRW 500 million and possible imprisonment of up to three years.
Lee Seung Gi’s agency quickly issued a statement to negate these mortgage fraud claims, stating, “Lee Seung Gi and Lee Da In are not living in this house. It is inconvenient for us to disclose the artistes’ private life in detail. It is regrettable that the television station did not confirm the facts beforehand. We have contacted the station and taken the appropriate measures to request that they not report false information.”
Public response to this alleged scandal has been polarizing. While some fans felt sorry for Lee Seung Gi and blamed his marriage to Lee Da In for his continued negative press, others urged the couple to retire and keep more low profile.

I rarely do this but let me do it. Lee Seung Gi is pleasure to work with on every conceivable level. The CEO of his former agency is absolute opposite. I always wondered how is it possible that he has chosen to work with such people. I expect this negative campaign to continue as long as his law suit is pending.
I read his IG post on how his former CEO lied to him and made him pay for negative media campaign that she launched against him and now his wife, he named reporter and was really open about it as it obviously hurt him so much. I know it has been done by others as well, I know she is capable of that and much more, I know people do far more for money, but it is sad, incredibly sad that people closest to him stole his money for more than 17 years and used such perverted ways to manipulate him into paying negative media campaign about him and his wife.
Of course, he finally left, he is suing them, they paid part of the money in settlement and he donated all of it, millions of US$, and the whole agency is now investigated for embezzlement including shareholders and it does not look good for them, but still whenever I see obviously paid negative article about him I get incredibly sad about state of the industry and wonder what would be good instrument to solve this problem, as it is really eating the whole industry inside out.
I sincerely hope he wins his case. He had been taken advantage off for years…
He is in negative news because of his nasty ex CEO. All his hardwork and dedication is stamp on by the antics of his previous manager. I really feel for him. I hope he will win this battle.
