Bai Lu and Oho Ou Drop Idol Looks in “Northwards”
Known for her prolific output, Bai Lu (白鹿) has been steadily building inventory for her dramatic output. After Till the End of the Moon <長月燼明> became a big hit, the 28-year-old will next film Northwards <北上> alongside Oho Ou (歐豪).
The series is based on the novel by renowned author Xu Zechen (徐則臣). Winning the 10th Mao Dun Literature Prize, the highly recognized book depicts the story of three youths and the changes with China’s grand canals through the decades.
Although Bai Lu was cast early on, the production team had difficulties securing the male lead. Yang Yang (楊洋), Tan Jianci (檀健次), and Bai Jingting (白敬亭) were considered, but the role eventually fell to pop singer and actor Oho Ou, whom fans quickly nodded in approval with the casting due to his good looks.
In the newly released character stills of Northwards, Bai Lu’s simple and plain-Jane look is a drastic 180-degree turn from her usual idol dramas. Praising Bai Lu and Oho’s fresh looks and bold changes, fans are becoming increasingly excited for the series despite it still being in the initial filming stages.
While Bai Lu’s drama Story of Kunning Palace <寧安如夢> was pulled from its May broadcast last minute, her upcoming dramas include Only for Love <以愛為營> with Dylan Wang (王鶴棣) and The Monkey King 3 <好女無雙>.
