Kenneth Ma Leads TVB’s New Airline Drama
Kaing waves when aired in 2003 and 2013, TVB classic airline drama series Triumph in the Skies <衝上雲霄> were huge hits with male leads Sam (played by Francis Ng 吳鎮宇) and Captain Cool (played by Chilam Cheng 張智霖) who have long captured the hearts of viewers as charismatic pilots.
10 Years Since 2013’s “Triumph in the Skies”
With the passing of a decade since Triumph in the Skies 2 and in celebration of Hong Kong International Airport’s 25th anniversary this year, TVB has apparently joined hands with Airport Authority Hong Kong to produce a new airline-themed drama. Helmed by veteran producer Andy Chan (陳耀全), who was behind dramas such as Your Highness <痞子殿下> and Al Cappuccino <反黑路人甲>, it is understood that the new production is non-affiliated with the successful Triumph series.
The cast has already confirmed to be starring Kenneth Ma (馬國明) in the lead, together with Tony Hung (洪永城), Sisley Choi (蔡思貝), Samantha Ko (高海寧), and also Rosita Kwok (郭柏妍) Brian Chu (朱敏瀚) and Joey Thye (戴祖儀).
Filming on location has already began at Hong Kong International Airport, as shared by some of the cast on social media. With news swirling, netizens are unimpressed by the lack of creativity in the dramatic theme. Besides finding the tentative Chinese name of the series “壯志驕陽” too cliché – they pointed out that it is the title of one of singer Jacky Cheung’s (張學友) old songs, they also expressed disappointment that classic characters “Captain Cool” and “Sam” aren’t returning.

I like Kenneth Ma, his acting is not the best but it is consistent and stable. He one of the few actors who I feel comfortable and relax watching on telly.
Totally agree with Hohliu!! Kenneth Ma is by far one of the best actors the station has churned out these past years and whom I and my family feel comfortable and nice watching. He is very relaxed and consistent in his acting… making the role he plays very believable!! Keep it up Kenneth!!
Good it’s not related to Triumph in the Skies. I couldn’t watch Part 2. It was do cringe with Chilam and Fala’s character. And Myolie too. Part 1 was great. But some series should be left alone. Hoping this series is good and not too cheesy.
