Leehom Wang and Lee Jinglei Continue Custody Battle
Since their divorce in 2021, Leehom Wang (王王力) and Lee Jinglei (李靚蕾) has been fighting over custody provisions and child visitation rights in court. The pair appeared at the Taipei District Court Xindian Office yesterday for another hearing.
At 9:40 a.m., Leehom arrived with his lawyer and manager. Dressed in a button-down shirt and jeans, Leehom waved at reporters but did not respond to any questions. Jinglei arrived four minutes later and also did not respond to any questions. The court hearing lasted two hours before the ex-couple left separately.
The reason for the latest court hearing was Leehom’s dissatisfaction with Jinglei not complying with the court’s earlier judgement, so he resorted to legal recourse. Leehom also issued a statement: “1. Today is a compulsory procedure which we requested. 2. Unfortunately, most of the contents of the earlier ruling have not been implemented. 3. Therefore, we hope legal procedures will allow the content of the ruling to be adhered to.” However, noting child and juvenile law provisions, Leehom did not reveal the details behind the case.
In a counterattack, Jinglei also issued her own statement: “1. Family affairs cases are not to be disclosed to the public. The judge had specifically reminded us of this earlier. We deeply regret that Mr. Wang once again violated family affairs principles for personal interests. 2. In the past two years, due to Mr. Wang’s constant appeals and protests, we have held countless court sessions and I have never encountered such a media battle. Today, Mr. Wang specially invited various entertainment reporters to attend and create more news. We feel deep regret for his actions. All relevant matters should not be used to entertain the public or as a tool to promote works. We hope whether it is justice, art, or family relationships, they should return to its most simple and pure form. 3. The claimant’s accusations are not true. I have always tried my best to fulfill the court’s ruling, but Mr. Wang has continued to violate his obligations.”
