Fala Chen’s Music Career to End With One Album?
Following a disappointing off-key live performance of her debut her single, Fala Chen’s (陳法拉) contract with her album label, Rising Star Music, will end this month. Many assumed that since she is dating Daniel Sit (薛世恒), a major stakeholder of the label Rising Star Music and the son of the popular KTV chain Neway, that Fala will receive special treatment in becoming a singer.
The abrupt news came as a surprise since Fala just released her album, Beautiful Life (美麗人生) last month. It was rumored that Fala signed with Rising Star Music in 2010, in order to be promoted to “Big Sister” status alongside Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣).
The CEO of Rising Star Music, Herman Ho ( 何哲圖), explained that producing the album was simply to fulfill Fala’s dreams of becoming a singer. Mr. Ho confirmed that the company’s contract with Fala only encompassed one music album release. Due to Fala’s busy filming schedule, she will not be able to commit to any promotional events for her future albums. It served both parties’ best interests that they do not proceed with a new contract.
Herman further emphasized that Rising Star Music will now focus on promoting Linda Chung, as her schedule is more flexible to attend promotional events. Herman also added that Rising Star Music will also promote the label’s other artists, including Alfred Hui (許廷鏗), Joyce Cheng (鄭欣宜), Elanne Kong (江若琳) , Super Girls, Wu Hung Kwun (胡鴻鈞) and Jinny Ng (吳若希).
It was rumored that Rising Star Music invested heavily to promote Fala’s album, A Beautiful Life. In fact, rap duo Fama (農夫), had to cancel their previously scheduled concert because all the label’s resources were dedicated to Fala. When asked to clarify the rumor, Fama’s Luk Wing (陸永) said, “That’s not true. We had to cancel the concert because it wasn’t promoted enough. We promise to make it up to our fans and sponsors, and hope to put on a concert in a few months.”
In addressing the rumor that Jinny is the next rising star to become “Big Sister” following Fala’s departure from the label, Jinny said, “Really? No way! Who said that? The boss has so much money, he can sign as many new artists as he wishes and promote them!”

It takes a few albums to succeed. if she is keen and she has investors, a bit of patience and building up a fanbase will help.

It’s only surprising that this was announced so quickly after her album release. Other than that, her album was not that good considering it took 2 years to make!
Depends on how much CD can be sold in a month after the releasing date and we’ll know she’ll continue or quit.
So far, just one…..and I think she bought that one herself.

Maybe he should put more efforts on them. Hubert Hu and Jinny have quite good voice. Joyce Cheng definitely can sing. Alfred and Elanne have look and not bad singing skill (mentioning that Alfred improved a lot recently). Actually the biggest sister of Rising Star aka Linda sings worse than all of the above mentioned name.
Linda is not the best singer, but I think she has a sweet tone. A lot of her songs are actually very good too, and it does seem like she really does like making music since she does compose some of her own songs.
Yup, she got a sweet voice and her songs are good compared to your average HK singer.
Comparing her to Joyce, Hubert and Alfred, Jinny and Elanne I blv her singing technique can’t compete with them. Her voice is kinda sweet but her singing technique need to improve a lot. Since she is the biggest sister of her company, the requirements to her are tended to be more than others.
Actually I don’t consider her as a composer because she said herself that she only mumbled something and then sent to the real composer to make song for her. At beast co-composer as from the mumbled melody to the songs, it has a big gap.
Not mumble. She hummed the melody to a recorded and sent the sound clips to the music people to arrange into full song.

Fala didn’t film as much in 2012 bc of her album. So, she’s back to filming now. As for Linda, her music career was on hold, and she filmed non-stop. I guess for those who were tired of Linda will get a break from her.
She should just stick to acting so that she can improve her acting skills instead of waste time on trying to sing. She honestly does NOT have the talent to sing well or become a successful singer…
It’s the trend these days: jack of all trades, master of none.
They’re raking in a lot of money despite their talent not being up to par, so it’s not as if they’d care. You know how people complain about Linda’s “chicken” voice? Well, turns out she has rather “chicken” moves too. I remember her at a promo event a long while ago, talking about wanting to film kung fu/action, but quite frankly, her moves were an embarrassment. Biting off more than you can chew is never a good thing. I’d like to see her take on Myolie kind of role from Chip Off The Old Block – comedic and conniving.

It’s TVB who arranges for her to sing. Without TVB’s help, her singing dream wouldn’t have made it. TVB makes a profit from it, which benefits them in the end.
Even if that is the case, she does not have to say yes. Basically she is trying to make money while they are trying to rake in the bucks too.

There are many actors/actresses that have tried to be singers but have failed miserably. They just don’t have the talent to sing… I think they should just stop before they waste their time and money as well as everyone else’s time and money.
