Yoyo Chen and Lai Lok Yi Host Variety Show “Hong Kong Happily Ever After”
After hit drama Happily Ever After? <婚後事> completed its run, cast members Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿), Joey Law (羅天宇), Yoyo Chen (陳自瑤), and Winki Lai (賴慰玲) are reunited in new variety show Hong Kong Happily Ever After <香港婚後事> where they chat candidly about relationships.
The first episode was filmed during a two-night glamping trip which featured guest stars Him Law (羅子溢) Jinny Ng (吳若希), Elaine Yiu (姚子羚), Mimi Kung (龔慈恩), Lee Shing Chak (李丞責), Pal Sin (單立文) and his wife Paisley Hu (胡蓓蔚).
Promoting the new show at a press conference, Lai Lok Yi stated Yoyo is the one least likely to be influenced by love. Yoyo shared she appreciates the way Pal and Paisley interact with each other. They like poking fun at each other and play fighting while respecting each other’s boundaries. Yoyo also learned a lot from Mimi in handling her children’s teenage rebellion.
Joey is caring, attentive, and loyal which explains his popularity with women. Lai Lok Yi joked they should film a 20-episode Happily Ever After based on Joey’s love life and many rumored girlfriends. Interrogated on the show, Joey clarified some rumors were fake. Winki shared she would not mind staying in the same room as Joey which shows the amount of trust she has in him. “Joey is shy and introverted– he rarely talks about his romantic life. After filming this show, I learned more about him and his way of thinking.”
The show had provided unlimited alcoholic drinks so everyone was able to talk in a relaxed and unguarded manner. Even though she usually has a rational personality, Winki cried twice after getting emotional from talking about her family and marriage. “My most memorable moment was hearing Jinny speak about her relationship. She is known for supposedly having her husband under control, but it turns out they are very sweet and they have their own way of interacting with each other.”
Lai Lok Yi joked he was worried his relationship with his wife would worsen after the show, “My wife’s standards are very high. She knows I usually speak with no filter. After watching the show and hearing others speak about their relationships, she nagged me for being unromantic and pointed out my flaws. I’m thankful for her constant nagging, which made me mature during our 10-year relationship. Otherwise, I would still be a pile of garbage!”
The cast also hoped Him and Venus Wong (王敏奕) can join them in future filming projects.
