“You Are the Apple of My Eye” to See South Korean Remake

The Taiwanese coming-of-age romantic film, 2011’s You Are the Apple of My Eye <那些年，我們一起追的女孩>, received phenomenal success across Asia. Well-received by film critics, the movie was also a huge box-office hit. Male lead, Kai Ko (柯震東), won Best New Performer at the Golden Horse Awards for his role in the film. Due to the film’s success, Japan produced a remake in 2018. South Korea will also begin working on a new adaptation.

Twice group member Dahyun has been reportedly offered the lead female role, which originally starred Michelle Chen (陳妍希) in the Taiwanese version. Since the character is an extroverted and outgoing model student who is popular among both classmates and teachers, Dahyun’s rumored casting is well-received due to her healthy image. Many fans have shared their excitement, with one exclaiming, “A real-life model student will be portraying Shen Jia Yi! It is very fitting.”

Dahyun’s agency, JYP Entertainment, stated, “We received proposals for related works and are currently in the discussion phase.”
