Fala Chen Balances Family Time and Work

Attending Paris Fashion Week earlier, Fala Chen (陳法拉) took the travel opportunity to bring her family along to enjoy some family time before filming commences for The Ballad of Small Player. Starring in a lead role opposite Colin Farrell in the new Hollywood movie, Fala has been diligently studying the story and script.

On balancing work and family, the 42-year-old mother-of-two expressed, “I really enjoyed this trip that encompasses both family time and work. In addition to relaxing with my family, I also can also familiarize myself with the story and script [for The Ballad of Small Player]. I also got to enjoy delicious seafood meals at the banquet sponsored by [Giorgio Armani]. This fashion show felt different from the others. There were a lot of clothing designs based on pearls and gemstones. Many of the ensembles worn had gemstones and pearl elements. It was very elegant and eye-opening.”

Returning to Hong Kong after her trip to Paris, Fala will soon begin filming for The Ballad of Small Player and is prepared to shoot outdoor scenes in scorching weather. On her role, Fala shared, “The character I portray this time is quite emotionally complex. I have to put in more effort. This is definitely a new challenge. The director did not specifically tell me to lose weight for the role, so I will just go with the flow. To align with my character’s mental state, it’s important that I eat healthily. I’ll include more seafood and meats in my diet to increase energy, but I’ll also limit my intake of carbohydrates such as rice and bread.”
