Wu Jinyan Spotted Pregnant After Marriage Announcement

Finding fame with Story of Yanxi Palace <延禧攻略>, 34-year-old mainland actress Wu Jinyan (吳謹言) caught many by surprise with her announcement of marriage to co-star Hong Yao (洪堯), who played Hongzhou in the 2018 drama.

With circulating rumors that Wu Jinyan was five months pregnant, photos shared by a netizen lately of the actress with a protruding belly on the set of Youku suspense drama The Women Returned <回來的她們> evoked even more gossip!

Going viral, the photos showed Wu Jinyan in an all-black outfit with her hair combed into a ponytail while filming a running scene. Surprised netizens expressed sentiments that the actress was already five months pregnant, while others threw shade on her husband, actor Hong Yao, for not making enough such that Wu has to work, even when she is with child.

Some pointed out that the seeming shotgun wedding was a piece of good news anyhow and worth celebrating, while others were of the opinion that she might merely be filming a pregnancy scene, speculating that her non-response to the rumors was just a way to hype up publicity for the drama. “Everyone who has been pregnant knows that it’s not just about the belly, you must look at the chest and buttocks too,” “This belly must be a prop. Is she filming a movie?”

While Wu Jinyan and Hong Yao continue to keep silent on the matter, the surprise marriage announcement had made many of the actress’s fans concerned that she will be cheated of money, and some hope that she can get her property notarized first.

Wu Jinyan’s artiste manager, Yu Zheng (于正) surfaced and said: “You guys grossly underestimate Hong Yao. He has a side income and is not short of money. “Yu Zheng further explained, “Hong Yao has not stopped getting acting offers in the past few years, and his salary is not low. He lives frugally and does not buy a house, (so his income) is good enough.”
