Tavia Yeung on Her Role in “Darkside of the Moon”
Darkside of the Moon (黑色月光) is Tavia Yeung’s (楊茜堯) first TVB drama in six years, after 2018’s Another Era <再創世紀>. The drama, which also stars Vincent Wong (王浩信) and Priscilla Wong (黃翠如), aired recently on multiple platforms, all of which reached high viewership ratings.
The recent promotional trailers highlighted Tavia’s range of expressions. Staring vengefully into the camera, Tavia’s fierce look elicited feelings of hatred, contempt, and sneering emotions, bringing chills down the audience’s spines. Fans praised Tavia for being perfectly cast as a woman seeking revenge. Some fans wrote, “After giving birth, Tavia’s aura is even more fearsome,” while others noted, “The focus in her eyes is through the roof!”
In addition to showcasing her formidable aura, Tavia displayed her range of emotions and acting skills with several crying scenes. A behind-the-scenes crew member shared it took Tavia merely two minutes to get into character, heighten her emotions, and let the tears flow freely.
On returning to TVB after so many years, Tavia admitted to being slightly nervous. Sharing that her character in Darkside of the Moon was vastly different from her real-life self, Tavia said, “I was quite nervous returning to TVB because this was such a great opportunity for me to film a revenge drama that was so powerful. My character in the drama was very different from my true self, so I was nervous about not being able to perform up to par. I was also very excited, because this was the type of drama that I’ve always wanted to be a part of.”
Reflecting on the most appealing trait of her character, Tavia expressed, “Definitely her perseverance. She doesn’t care about what others think about her. She has a firm heart and doesn’t do anything illegal to exact revenge. She is considered quite a respectable, yet tragic person, given the circumstances. Of course, she also has parts of her that are detestable – like how she would do whatever it takes to achieve her goals.”

First 17 episodes, I think it is the best show HK has put out in YEARS. I am interested to see how the last half will go, I thought the first mystery was wrapped up too soon but there is a second half and I hope it is just as good.
I think Tavia is excellent in this.
