Edwin Foregoes Rehearsal to Celebrate Priscilla’s Birthday

Appearing for the press conference of variety show Scam <呃錢> on October 18 with other co-hosts, actor Edwin Siu (蕭正楠) joked that he has handed over several billion to his wife, Priscilla Wong (黃翠如), for safekeeping!

Edwin and Priscilla Have Separate Finances

When asked if he’s entrusted all his assets to Priscilla for management, Edwin laughed and said he still has some personal savings: “We manage our finances independently as a couple, but if it’s for a major investment, we inform each other. I’m the cautious type when it comes to managing money—I like to go to the bank in person for transfers. Priscilla is more savvy, but sometimes being too smart can backfire.”

Priscilla’s birthday is on the 23rd of this month, and Edwin, who has an upcoming concert on the 25th in Foshan with pal Raymond Cho (曹永廉), said, “I want to stay in Hong Kong to celebrate her birthday, so I’ve only scheduled rehearsals for the 24th, and I’ll jump straight into the concert the next day. I think me being in Hong Kong to accompany her is already a great birthday presen!. Will it be a private celebration for just the two of us? Most likely, but we do have a friend who shares the same birthday, so we’re considering whether to have dinner together to celebrate.”

On Being Scammed

On the program’s spotlighting of scams, Edwin mentioned that he now receives dozens of scam calls starting with the number 3 every day, making him very worried that his elderly family members might get scammed. He revealed, “My mother once mistakenly trusted someone claiming to be responsible for installing a water filter in the building. She spent a few thousand dollars, only to find out that the water was foul-smelling.” He said he tried to file a complaint, but the person who installed the machine looked so intimidating that he didn’t dare speak up. Edwin added, “Although the amount lost wasn’t much, my mother was upset for some time,”
