Dylan Wang and Tian Xiwei’s Fans Bicker Over “Guardians of the Dafeng”
With her career scaling new heights in recent years on the back of dramatic successes with New Life Begins <卿卿日常> and Romance on the Farm <田耕紀>, actress Tian Xiwei’s (田曦薇) romantic rumors with co-star Dylan Wang (王鶴棣) on the set of new costume drama Guardians of the Dafeng <大奉打更人>, further hyped up views for its teaser, which broke 24.8 million views, while reservations for the drama also reached an impressive 3 million.
However, the recently dropped drama trailer and poster, which featured only male lead Dylan striking a handsome pose but with lead actress Tian Xiwei prominently missing, ignited a war of words between Dylan’s fans and hers.
Conveying a different vibe from his demon role in the drama Love Between Fairy and Devil <蒼蘭訣> which carried an evil vibe, the actor, dressed in a silver white military uniform, brought forth a strong aura of righteousness befitting of his character, Xu Qian.
At the recent Vogue China Forces of Fashion event, Tian Qiwei intentionally struck a pulling bow pose, as an early publicity move to hype up her new drama.
Thus, her fans were sorely disappointed when she was nowhere to be seen in the launch poster and teaser, criticized the production team. Dylan’s fans on the other hand felt that having only their idol on the first publicity wave was reasonable, as Guardians of the Dafeng was a male-centric drama. Not the first time that Tian Xiwei and Dylan’s fans fought, they had already exchanged a war of words previously when romantic rumors emerged between both stars – with fans of each accusing the other side of leveraging on their idol’s popularity to garner publicity.
