Tavia Yeung Shares Reason for Changing Her Name
With Darkside of the Moon <黑色月光> airing in China, Tavia Yeung (楊茜堯) took advantage of the exposure to open a Douyin account. In a recent video, Tavia shared why she and her husband Him Law (羅子溢) had changed their Chinese names in 2020. Although the couple felt this would ensure a better future for their family, some netizens felt Him changed his name in hopes of having a son.
Two years ago, Him had clarified that their daughter’s name was chosen by a shifu and they had mentioned that if they wanted a better future for their daughter, the parents must also make changes to trigger positive reactions. It was a big struggle for them as their names were already so well known by the public. But in the end, their daughter’s well-being came first.
Famous fengshui master Mak Ling Ling (麥玲玲) shared that both Tavia and Him’s original names had little flaws–if they changed them, it would lead to greater peace. “Their new names will help their careers and fame. It will also help keep their family whole and safe. If they change their names at the same time, they will be able to help each other.”
In the new clip, Tavia shared they did not change their names because they were superstitious but it really came down to wanting a better future for their children. She shared a netizen pointed out an interesting fact. Apparently, the Mandarin pronunciation of the middle character of her new name sounds similar to the last character in Him’s original name. The Mandarin pronunciation of the last character of Him’s new name is similar to the last character of Tavia’s original name. It is quite romantic their names have always been tied to each other.
