Gigi Yim and Ali Lee Noticeably Absent from TVB Anniversary Gala

TVB live streamed its 2024 Anniversary Gala last night and it was filled with star-studded performances. The night started off with a song by Stars Academy <聲夢傳奇> members. The winner of the competition, Gigi Yim (炎明熹), was noticeably absent and rumored to be frozen due to contract disputes.

Gigi was initially heavily promoted and had three performances in last year’s Anniversary Gala show. She led the winner of Stars Academy 2, Jasmine Yam (任暟晴) and other teammates in a group performance, a solo stage, and finally a duet with Hacken Lee (李克勤), who was also a mentor on the first season of the show.

Fast forward to this year, the lineup has changed. Chantel Yiu (姚焯菲) is currently studying in New Zealand, so TVB decided to place second runner-up Yumi Chung (鍾柔美) in the lead spot. Interestingly last year, Yumi only stood in the second row looking at Gigi’s back.
