Mickey Huang Sentenced to Eight Months in Prison

Taiwanese television host Mickey Huang (黃子佼), 52, was sentenced to eight months in prison and 100,000 new Taiwanese dollars for possessing explicit photos of minors.

During an investigation for another sexual assault case, police searched Mickey’s home and electronic devices, where they found he stored explicit content of minors. The police discovered 2,259 indecent videos of minors at his residence, which included content of minors as young as 11 years old. The content had included cruel abuse. Mickey was recently convicted of these new charges of child and juvenile exploitation.

During his defense in court, Mickey explained he had only purchased the explicit content to relieve stress and did not watch all of them. Many continue to question his intentions and found his defense to be feeble and unbelievable, as all the videos he purchased were of minors.

Taiwan’s Director of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Zhang Xiu Yuan (張秀鴛), had denounced Mickey’s illegal purchase of secretly filmed videos made him an accomplice in sexual crimes, as the demand for such material encouraged extortion of minors.

With his case causing public outcry, Mickey’s career, image, and reputation is unsalvageable. His wife, Summer Meng (孟耿如), has stayed away from the public eye since Mickey came under investigation. She now rarely posts on social media. Many netizens left encouraging messages on her post amid her husband’s legal troubles.
