Chilam Cheung Films Ad Despite High Fever

Chilam Cheung (張智霖) continued to work despite feeling sick and having a fever on September 13. Complying to the director’s request to display expressions of culinary pleasure, Chilam ate 50 meat skewers while sipping tea in the ad.

Chilam’s manager worried that the excessive food and long hours would worsen Chilam’s condition, the director was informed that Chilam had a high fever towards the end of the filming process. Since Chilam loved to eat skewers, he said it was not a problem to eat several dozens.

Filming into the early dawn hours, Chilam displayed his professionalism although he was not in optimal health condition.

Drops Towel in “Triumph in the Skies 2”

Chilam has been busily filming for TVB drama, Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄>. Earlier, Chilam revealed his topless torso–which was slightly flabby in the midsection– while filming a topless scene requiring him to drop his towel, frightening a housewife.

Admitting that he did not work out for the topless scene, Chilam said, “I purposely did not work out for the scene. I intentionally did not want an 8-pack abdomen, in order to feel closer to the audience!”

Nevertheless, the director asked Chilam to pull down the waistband of his shorts lower to produce a more realistic effect in the dropped-towel scene.

    1. I got to ask have you ever got a fever before? I mean having fever is painful and a lot of work. When you have a fever your feeling weak, cold, shivering, headache, dehydration, and no appetite. Plus he is doing a food ad you have to eat a lot of food. Plus if it was a high fever it would be even worst!

      1. Are we not exaggerating that he ate “50 meat skewers”? The ad showed him eating 2 bite sized food. Surely, even after all the cuts, its hard to believe he ate 50 sticks full of meat…

      2. yes corn girl, I got 104 fever few weeks ago… i didn’t go to work but i still work at home. and i’m pretty sure my job is harder than his…. sitting and eating?

      3. You see perhaps a 30 seconds ad. What goes behind is a full day work. You seee 2 bite sized, what he actually ate which requires a full day filming should be about 50.

      4. I still don’t see how he would have eaten 50 full sticks of meat for that 2 shots. And it isn’t even like he needs to swallow them, he just pretends to enjoy biting the meat and then spit it out. If it says he took 50 bites of meat to get those 2 screen shots, then I would believe it. No way he would have eaten 50 full sticks…

      5. @ Funn Lim,

yea, sitting and eating for a 30 seconds ad…it must be hard..take 8 hours just to sit and eat? give me a freaking break…

      6. Because a 30 seconds ad does not usually take 30 seconds to film. It takes hours and hours of preparation and then hours and hours of filming. Even Tony Leung being an acting thespian may need to spend half a day filming a 30 seconds ad and if the ad is about eating then that is why he has to eat that much.

What do you think? He just walks in, puts on make up, nibble for 30 seconds and that is the end of the work? It is easier than usual normal 9 to 5 jobs since 1 day shooting and he gets like thousands or even for some millions but it isn’t as simple as you have sarcastically put it.

    2. I’d like to see you get on set, be packed with make up, be all ready for a shoot and have loads of cuts and re-takes.

I’ve acted before and it’s really not that easy, especially when you’re having a high fever. “It’s only a fever” may not be the best thing to say right here.

      1. I’m going to say acting is not easy, the more take you have to do, the more meat skewer you get to eat, yea?

    3. I don’t think you should belittle a actor or singer job. Being an actor and being a singer is just as much work and stressful like any other job. Unlike normal job they have to work unregular hours, and hours and hours of practise.
You were at home he went to work, did you even finish your work?
You think that a 30 second ad doesn’t take that long to film but it actually take the whole day just to film that little 30s

      1. The production assistants, his personal assistant, lighting staff, cameraman, director, makeup assistant etc. all have to work irregular hours, and stay up all the time that Chilam was there. But guess what? He was probably paid 100x the amount that they were for that period of time.

      2. Yeah that is true but they chose those job. Plus their pay is actually pretty good too, some can even get 2-4 times more then a normal job pay.

  1. He still looks quite young for his age.

Looking forward to watch the series… hope Fala won’t ruin it…. but she has improved a little bit… ah well, we will see how TITS 2 will go…..

    1. “I intentionally did not want an 8-pack abdomen, in order to feel closer to the audience!”

Take note guys. Then again, I’m not a fan of buff bodies (unless you’re an athlete or you have a genuine interest in body building). I’m not a prude, I just find that it reeks of vanity.

      1. Me, too. I’m into the toned body, not the buff body that show rolled of muscles, that’s not attractive >_> that’s why I don’t think Himhim’s body was to rave about really >_>. Asian guys look good by just being toned and slander.

  2. 50 meat skewers ??wow i feel sick reading it already. Poor Chilam , get better soon.

  3. Fever = don’t feel like eating. So imagine having to enjoy your food when all you feel like doing is throwing up! Now, that’s what I call acting. Top that off with filming into early hours, that is professionalism.

  4. Can we stop with the drop-tower/drop pants/show bras scenes already? It’s getting old.

    1. Kidd,
I think there will be many more underwear scenes going forward, for men to appear in their briefs and women in their bras.

There’s also that viewpoint that a bra doesn’t reveal anymore than a bikini….

TVB has been using the underwear placement in humorous situations, to avoid them being overly sexual in connotation to get away with them.

      1. That’s very true, bra at least have some padding, except some -.- whereas bikini is no padding whatsoever, so you actually see more than a bra >_> oh, there is this Korean series (fullhouse i think) feature the support actress’s every outfit is to highlight her bra, it makes my eyes pop everytimes I see her, she was like goddess, daring and I wish I could dress like her and have ppls like me that just appreciate the bra, the put together of the outfit, and the confident she has to pull that off.
So yea, showing a bra isn’t as bad as it sound, as long as it tasteful.

    2. Kidd:

      Girl, speak for yourself! 😛
If the guy is good-looking, the towel drop trick never gets old! 🙂

      1. Then I hope you also support the bikini/panty/bra scenes as well 😛

  5. He is telling the whole world his professionalism and commitment.

Then next step he demands more compensation.

    Understood.

In reality he is a fool, if he is really sick he should take a rest.
He has a responsibility and commitment to his wife and children to stay healthy.

  6. Can we get a front page article for the architect who stayed up for 3 days straight trying to meet his client’s deadline?

    I’m just saying.

  7. I’m in HK currently, and saw this ad right before reading this article! I had no clue he wasn’t feeling well; he actually looked like he was really enjoying his meal. And frankly, he looks pretty good in his topless scene in TITS2. Just like a normal guy. A normal-dreamy-adorablely-dimpled guy, that is. 😀

      1. Is that the latest Cat3 movie?

Great title, straight to the point. I think we need a sequel ASS3.

  8. It’s that the same beverage that LF has been filming and ad before?
    Get well soon Chilam
