Bobby Au Yeung’s Next Target: Eliza Sam
Goodbye, Garfield the Cat! Bobby Au-Yeung (歐陽震華) was recently hired by a friend to endorse a non-surgical eye bags removal treatment, and Bobby was more than happy to help him out. Along with Bobby’s bald hairstyle, his puffy eyes had always been one of his signature looks. His friends exclaimed that his eyes made him look like Garfield the Cat, and the nickname stuck.
Bobby never really minded his puffy eyes. He always thought that his eyes gave him a more comedic look, and it had aided him in becoming a popular casting choice for comedy by many television and film producers. However, in recent years, his puffy eyes just gave him more stress than anything else. “Because of my eye bags, I would still look tired even if I had over ten hours of sleep. It makes me look tired all the time!”
Many viewers also said they were distracted by Bobby’s heavy eye bags, exclaiming that they were as big as cashew nuts. Bobby’s heavy eye bags were especially noticeable during the broadcast of 2012’s House of Harmony and Vengeance <耀舞長安>.
Bobby joked, “I’ve worked hard to earn these eye bags! It took me about seven to eight years! I never knew that I could one day compare the growth of my eye bags to the amount I earned in RMB!”
Bobby continued, “My eye bags have gotten worse in the last two to three years. I have wanted to get them removed, and I also have friends that took trips to Korea and Japan just to get them surgically removed. I went to a doctor for some advice, and he said that because I have two layers of eye bags, he would have to cut a larger area around my eye. I don’t care how it’s done, but just the thought of having him to cut deep into my eyes gives me goose bumps! This is a surgery on my eyes! It’s serious business, and regardless of how the surgery is done, it still sounds dangerous.
“Later, a friend who told me that there is a way to get them removed without surgery. I was considering it. When the company told me that they will use me as their endorser, I’ve decided that I should face my fears and have them removed.”
Bobby Looks 10 Years Younger
On the day of the ad filming, the crew on set joked that Bobby has returned to his youthful vigor, praising him that he looks at least ten years younger! Bobby smugly said, “Now it’s hard to find someone around my age to partner up with me. I guess that after Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) and Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣), the next should be “Princess Heung Heung,” Eliza Sam (岑麗香)! I also sent in a request to TVB executives, telling them that they can get Florence Kwok (郭少芸) to play my mom. If she is able to play Lai Lok Yi’s (黎諾懿) mom, surely she can play mine! Yoyo Mung (蒙嘉慧) can play my stepmom!”
When Bobby’s wife saw his “new eyes,” she immediately said she wanted to get her own eye bags done too. However, Bobby told her that she should not. “She doesn’t need to. She sleeps regularly and maintains a healthy lifestyle. She sleeps around the same hour every night, and gets up to exercise around the same time every morning. She doesn’t even have eye bags! I am different. My sleeping schedule is messy. I’ll rather spend an extra hour sleeping than exercising!”
Asked if Bobby has finally found more confidence in himself, he laughed, “Of course! I can say that I am perfect now. In the past, I am only a threat to Kwok Fung (郭鋒). Now I think I can finally challenge Lam Fung (Raymond Lam 林峯)!”
In November, Bobby will team up with old-time partner and friend, Esther Kwan (關詠荷), to film TVB tragic drama, Love Reverses Three Lifetimes of Fate <情逆三世緣>. Bobby and Esther’s last collaboration together was in 2000’s The Legendary Four Aces <金裝四大才子>, and their last collaboration as a couple was for Armed Reaction II <陀槍師姐II> in 1999. Bobby is ecstatic to work with Esther again, and joked, “I’ve removed my eye bags for her! Esther aged really well, and if I don’t look younger, how would I be able to pair up with her? It’s a rare chance that we are able to collaborate again, so I cannot lose this opportunity!”

Bobby’s comments cracked me up. It’s outrageous that he wants Florence Kwok to play his mother. His eyebags never bothered me though.
I think it was a subtle dig at TVB though, for making Florence Kwok Lai Lok Yi’s mom?
I never understood that. They both were great at their roles, but it wasn’t believable at all.
Just imagine, she was 13 when she gave birth. He was supposed to be young, so imagine 25 years old. 13 plus 25 and she would be 38. Is that Florence’s real age? It may not be believable in today’s context but back then, it is believable. I find Kingdom Yuen as an empress more unbelievable.
My god! She is 44! She looks good! And so it is believable in that sense.
God, I love Florence! She seems like such a bright personality outside of dramas as well. I wish she’d do more comedy though (like her role in Old Time Buddies).

Bobby is so hilarious, lol. But I’m wary about this non-surgical procedure for removing eyebags. If it really worked, women would be all over it. It seems to me like it’s a genetic issue for Bobby, in which case surgeries is the only thing I know really works.

Bobby’s a great actor. His eyes were more a trademark than anything. I love his series and early await anything he does 🙂
His eye bags never bothered me, but he does look good after removing them. It makes him look more refreshed. Bobby, Esther, and Ben Wong were filming scenes for the sales presentation today. I can’t wait to see it. 🙂
I’ve never notice his eye bags. Bobby’s comments are so funny. I had good laugh reading this article. Florence looks great for her age. I think Bobby is just kidding or exaggerating because Florence is young to be his mom in the serie.

Dear, Bobby is a hillarious guy and whenever he make jokes, he meant it no harm.. even IF he make jokes on Ron, LF, Bosco and Toby, I bet he will make them less hostile but in a funny way. Therefore, I’m very anticipate to read his jokes about them.. bet they gonna be funny.
Make fun and harmful joke is slightly different. Harmful joke wont make frds mad but intended joke with double meaning might lead to unfriendly moment.

However I did like Bobby’s harmful jokes. Well, at least he dun tries to make himself bitter when he jokes. I guess thats why he is frd of many not like someone who always have double jokes and bitter.
Harmful or harmless? I think bobby’s jokes about esther and your and jessica are pretty harmless. And when he made fun of Raymond being late it was harmless too. He doesn’t seem to be one to have hidden meaning behind his jokes so I don’t think it will be bad if he jokes about Ron or Bosco.

Some fans just are too sensitive. Like when Bobby made the joke about Raymond being late, it was actually saying that Raymond was late as he was so busy as his schedule was packed, but some fans took it wrong as well, and got upset that bobby was talking bad about Raymond.
Like when we joke here about some idols, some fans go crazy as well. HEHE but it’s funny to make them go crazy, as the smallest thing will set them off.
I actually wanted to say the word “sensitive” and “overprotective” but nah.. it will only create more chaos lol.

No, I’m saying that the word you used “make fun” was never existed in Bobby towards his friends. He did make some harmless jokes to them, but didn’t make fun of them with intentions or double meaning.
It’s not about LF or Bosco or Ron or Toby but Bobby :). He has never done such thing, so why you put it to him :P? Dear, you also know that Bobby is a hilarious guy and friend of many. I said that Bobby is different to some ppl that like to step on others but act innocent and say double meaning jokes.

I think Bobby’s eye bags worst TVB scene was in Dicey Business at last episode in the beach with Jessica at the end. His weird face makes his both eyes popped out. Wish, they put that in the theme video.
