JJ Jia Seduces Damian Lau in “Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles”
Since its broadcast, Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles <名媛望族> has been ridden with heavy-handed love relationships and illicit affairs. With more than half of the drama’s episodes already aired, JJ Jia (賈曉晨) will finally seduce 63-year-old Damian Lau (劉松仁) and become his fifth wife. This will spiral tensions between Damian and fourth wife, Tavia Yeung (楊怡).
Not long after marrying Tavia’s character, Damian will fall to the charms of JJ Jia. Not willing to be a sales clerk all her life, JJ plots to win the attention of Damian and marry into the wealthy family. Meeting at a nightclub, JJ drapes herself over Damian. Kissing passionately, the pair spend a night at Damian’s vacation home. In the morning after scene, JJ flashes her underwear onscreen while getting dressed.
When Tavia had married Damian, she made him promise that she will be the last woman he takes as his wife. When Tavia discovered JJ sitting on Damian’s lap in a cafe, Tavia was outraged and slapped Damian’s face. Not used to a woman going against his wishes, Damian proceeded to take JJ under his wing as his fifth wife.
Ron Ng and Elena Kong’s Illicit Affair
Ron Ng (吳卓羲) escapes death and enters the Chung household under the guise of amnesia. Claiming that he only remembers Rebecca Zhu (朱晨麗), Ron fools the Chung family, including Rebecca’s husband, Kenneth Ma (馬國明).
Although his mind was bent on revenge, Ron becomes involved with Elena Kong (江美儀), who was largely ignored by Damian since he married Tavia. In a moment of passion, Ron loses himself in Elena’s kiss and they start an illicit affair.

actually, it is a MEDIOCRE series. if HKer’s have much better series to catch up on that timeslot, i doubt they will follow up on this like crazy. i mean this is about an old player who happened to have lots of wives, not much excitement to make u want to follow up like crazy n to think that this veteran dude gets all these kissing/action scenes while young sons dont even have a decent kissing scene is just beyond sad hahaha…lol…i mean kenneth ma’s kissing scene, gosh can it be more fake? ahhaha its just lip bumping…
Actually I disagree on the fact that this series is mediocre. At first, I thought I would hate it, but the relationship of Damien with his various wives are interesting. Ron/son/Rebecca’s sub plot is just bleh, I skip that, as its boring, and predictable. Main thing about Damien’s relationship with his wives is you don’t known where they going, or even if you know, you still want to see how it play out. I quite enjoy it so far, still don’t like Rebecca or Ron thou >_>
It is not an excellent series but not mediocre. It is just revolving around the same people for far too long and too snail paced. It should have ended by now or resulting in some dramatic death. Perhaps the idea of Damian as a womaniser may not be the most ideal. I am quite tired of him cheating and marrying. I am hoping for perhaps Chi Kwan just stab him to death, the end. It is getting a bit laborious to watch, The Ron Ng story is boring. In fact it feels so predictable with who sleeping with who. Somehow I don’t find the disintergration of the Chung family interesting, It will be interesting when one of the sons defy Arthur and not the wife.
Wow!! Must admit I wasnt that interested in this series at first with the first few episodes but its getting more interesting.Didn’t realise Ron was pretending to be amnesiac!! Idy Chan is great in her role as the second wife.

This character which Damien portrays is despicable. Five wives and from a western education background!! Thank goodness we are not in that era. This series is getting more interesting by showing the unfairness of society then treating women.
Never forget, these women willingly married him so they can’t complain about him being polygamous.
But the argument about him being a bastard husband is true, the way he treats his 2nd wife. BUT put it this way. Look at it the other way around; if your husband keeps running to his ex fiance and having some personal time with her and not telling you about, how would you feel?
I understand Arthur’s anger BUT his reaction is a bit OTT. Interesting though; western background, etc and still the same thinking.
He probably marries his 5th wife to retaliate against his 4th wife who may or may not want to divorce him. Not that he will let her divorce him. If you notice, his image/ego is more important than the wellbeing of the women he love.

I dont know about you guys, but Ron is slowly starting to piss me off by seducing Rebecca Zhu. He had his chance to get with her but because of his stubbornness (which appeared in almost every role he ever played, I’m not sure why >.>), but didn’t take the chance. Kenneth and rebecca look like a pleasant couple and I would hate to see them split. And like everyone else, I’m anticipating the affair Rebecca Zhu will have shamefully with Ron. This drama is decent because of the fact that there are internal family problems. To conclude, honestly, Ron’s acting hasn’t improved much, and with roles like this he ain’t getting nowhere. Just my 2 cents.
i agree, RON NG, it’s like seeing him w/the same facial expressions and stubborness in all his roles. he should really take on more challenging or evil villains to make him more noticeable, otherwise, he will ALWAYS be the same, BORING. hahaa lol

I think the reason why Ron can’t let Reb go are he’s still prtty inluv with her and he thoought reb should repay him somethin like dat. And when Reb married Kenneth, it angers Ron more cuz Ron always thought Kenneth is a cheater, liar and he can do whatever he wants cuz he’s rich.
Ron Ng’s character has the flimsiest reason for revenge. I still don’t know why he is angry all the time. He hates rich people for looking down at poor people, but the poor people all look down or stereotype all other people too. The Cheung family only tried to help him, it’s not like Vincent tried to frame him for murder or something.

Yep yep. At the same time, if we are to look at the Solar 4 (S4 from TITS), Kenneth Ma, Bosco Wong, and Sammul Chan has all improved tremendously. Ron on the other hand, it seems to me his best was in TITS. He does these roles well don’t get me wrong, but it’s irritating. TITS 2 may be his chance to redeem himself, but it’s gonna be the same Ron lol. Probably a bit more mature.
Why is Damian so mean to his 2nd wife??? He’s mad cuz she’s in love with her 1st love. Yet, it’s okay for him to get 3rd, 4th, and 5th wives. He can get a taste of his own medicine. His family is having so much drama, yet he still wanna find another woman. Men will be men. Don’t hate when us women do the same thing. Let’s the table turn. Hahahah

Ben wong or something, i find him so convincing in this role for some reason but i guess since he’s not the main character knowing typical TVB endings, probably this 2nd wife will go back to this old bag. hahaha… lol…
Nah, I saw the article that 2nd wife will leave Damian for Ben Wong. The 3rd wife will also leave him for Ron. It would be awesome if all his wives leave him for another man. Who wrote the scripts? Its terrible and longggg. I can’t wait when this series is over.
I think that is what the series is supposed to be about – the disparity between men and women back in that time.

If we are spoilering – i can just add that first dies, two and three leaves and apparently the fourth stays.
Think in the context of 1920s and not today’s context. Back then he could have drowned her and no one would know, even in HK.

Haha, don’t get me wrong, Damian Lau is a spectacular actor. It’s just that this series just doesn’t live up to the hype TVB gives it. Vague, boring, and predictable elements in the typical TVB drama. I haven’t been keeping up with this series but I just jumped in into the latest episode just to see what all the fuss is about. And by watching the current one, I have to admit it’s interesting, but it’s just soooo predictable like every other drama. What has TVB gone to?

Seems like the story is getting interesting. i gave up watching for some time but ep 26 & 27 have been really good.
Im still watching it for the sake of watching and see if it gets any better…when someone confirmed that it’s 40 episodes long, I was like, the heck. It’s already draggy as of now, we still have like a tons of episodes more to go?? I found myself looking forward for Chai Yat Fai’s scenes more these days…perhaps he’s the more interesting characters characters in there. The rest are just… …
JJ gets better every time I see her. Just wished she could have been nominated in Most Improved rather than Christine or Eliza. Eliza shouldn’t even be on there, really. At least there would have been two worthy contenders for that category.
Agree with you, and I used to not like JJ. But this year, I liked her performance in GJ2.

Just watched the episode where JJ seduced Damian. All I can say is Damian’s character is a jerk! I was cursing through out the show LOL!
I’m so proud of Tavia for not only standing up for Idy (2nd wife) but for being brave enough to speak her mind.
I was also annoyed by Ron. This is also another jerk. Someone please tell me why Ron’s acting skill so bland… He just can’t express himself.
i didnt watch that episode yet but i think he has been a JERK from day 1. even w/Tavia in the very beginning, he is NOT the one that feels like he should help her, his son is the one feeling heroic and wanted to help the unfortunate, Damien character helps but it has to be beneficial to him in some way and NOT out of the goodness of his heart. thats one of the main reason that series is getting more boring actually. he’s such a chuvinistic pig, unfaithful dog yet expects faithfulness of his wives esp 2nd one knowing she feels regretful of her past w/childhood love and one woman after another. so to me, he is a perverted old womanizer. hahaha
hahaha true! couldn’t help but feel for the women in that show who are being treated like they are worthless and incapable in the show (I supposed the same during that era). Just glad we are not living in that kinda century anymore
I’m not a fan of Tavia (nor do I hate her) but I just watched episode 28, the scene where she and Damian were arguing in the bedroom after the shopping trip, and she was AMAZING! She was right up there with veteran actor Damian in terms of emotion and just overall really authentic acting. I really felt her anger, and most importantly, I felt her trying to REPRESS her anger, which is good acting. Good acting is not about displaying emotion, but about displaying the action of trying to keep your emotions in. Hope I’m being clear. Tavia was good since episode 1, very natural, but this one really floored me (the argument scene). I don’t get all these people who said she wasn’t good in SSSS because how “good” do you have to be? She has a really natural acting style which I love.
