“Young and Dangerous: Reloaded” to Open on January 10, 2013
Chan Ho Nam and his Young and Dangerous gang will return more buff than ever, in a new Category III remake with more profanity, explicit violence and sex.
Co-produced by Wong Jing (王晶), Young and Dangerous: Reloaded <古惑仔：江湖新秩序> aims to bring back the popular characters from the 1996 original, one of Hong Kong’s best-selling gangster movies. The remake also reunited filmmaker Manfred Wong (王文雋) and Wong Jing for the first time in 12 years. Young and Dangerous: Reloaded arrives in Hong Kong theaters on January 10, 2013.
Death by Being Burned Alive
In a scene filmed for Young and Dangerous: Reloaded earlier this week, Ugly Kwan (Sammy Shum 沈震軒), is ambushed and burned alive by Chan Ho Nam (Him Law 羅仲謙). Oscar Leung (梁烈唯), Jazz Lam (林子善), Philip Ng (伍允龍), and Dominic Ho (何浩文) join in the violent scene. It was reportedly a horrifying, yet impressive scene with 200 extras brought in.
Him Law described the horror he felt towards his character’s actions, “I never thought I would douse someone with gasoline and light him on fire. Brutally burning someone alive is horrifying and extremely disturbing!” Him hopes that the audience will like how the cast interpreted their characters and not compare them directly to the characters from the original movie.
Ugly Kwan’s death scene also marked the completion of filming and the beginning of post-production work for Young and Dangerous: Reloaded.
According to Wong Jing, Young and Dangerous: Reloaded is the first of multiple films planned for the remake project. Filming in Taiwan will be required for the planned sequel, in which Him is ready to go. “I would like to see more follow-ups. At the end of this movie, I will be a fugitive leaving for Taiwan. I am praying to be on location in Taiwan for the sequel,” Him said.
When asked if he enjoyed the romantic scenes, Him said that he did not even get a hug in the movie. “It’s like the feeling of staring at the menu, but you are forbidden to order anything.” Him said.
Oscar Leung, who plays Chicken, also hopes that viewers will appreciate their performance. “We did our best and I believe it was beyond our expectations. I hope the audience will like our version of Young and Dangerous.”
Wong Jing Praises Sammy Shum
Wong Jing praised Sammy Shum, who plays Ugly Kwan in the new remake. Wong Jing called Sammy’s performance to be on par with Francis Ng’s (吳鎮宇) depiction from the original film. Sammy tried to act the role in his own style and has not seen Francis’ version of Ugly Kwan.
Denise Ho (何韻詩) was chosen by Wong Jing to play Thirteenth Sister for her style and manliness. Wong Jing intends to film a new movie that will feature Denise in a leading role.
Young and Dangerous: Reloaded will hit the theaters on January 10, 2013. The film will release the same weekend as Wong Kar Wai’s (王家衛) The Grandmasters <一代宗師>. Facing his rival Wong Kar Wai once again, Wong Jing said the two have competed numerous times in past box office line-ups. However, Wong Jing joked about Wong Kar Wai’s usual schedule delays. “I’ll believe it when I see it,” Wong commented on The Grandmasters reportedly opening on the same weekend.

Short answer, no. His voice is a problem. And too pretty to be ruthless. BUT he may be able to show the crazy side.

Philip Ng is the only actual fighter in real life and runs a martial arts school. So he stands out as not looking like a pop star.
No offense but this look like TVB version of YND with all these TVB cast.
With TVB faces, this is nothing as cool as the original YND.

Wong Jing is a pox on the HK film industry. Sure, he had flashes of brilliance with God of Gamblers and a few of the Lucky Stars films, but his profile is marred largely by lazy screenwriting, rehashes (Fight back to School III, Infernal Affairs rehash Color of Loyalty, Future Cops and it’s sequel Future-X Cops, and now this new YnD movie) and Cat-III softporn films like “Raped by an Angel”.
Now, HK needs directors to keep putting out movies so we can nurture new actors, producers, special effects and production crew, but at what cost?
What’s crazy is Wong Jing has his own followers when he makes triad series or rehashes of famous movies. Earlier EEG teamed up with an unknown director and used big budgets to make Triad starring William Chan. The movie flopped with only 1million++ boxoffice despite the big promos and budgets. Saving grace is only Patrick Tam who steal the show. William Chan has no movie star potential.
HAlf of the blame belongs to the HK moviegoers who eat up every WJ movie. It’s a vicious cycle which motivates him to release more crappy movies.
I used to like Wong Jing’s comedies a lot. They are very funny. I admit that his newer movies are not as funny. But, I’ll still support him. He did produce the original Y&D with Manfred Wong. So, lets see if he can reproduce the classic again.
Profanity, extreme violence and sex sells in HK. Add with hype it will be sold our. I forgot to mention this. This is another reason why Wong Jing is confident about this YND. It’s different from his stupid lame comedies.
From my experience with HK audience taste this TVB style YND will be a hit because of the crazy a$$ promos and the connection with YND premise but other than the cast looking so ‘TVB’, we have to wait to see how Wong jing will make the YND as great as this hype now.
This year Cold War is a success and Tony Leung is the best in it. I just think Eddie Peng and Aarif Lee are very mediocre and pale in the movie. Should’ve casted Nic Tse and Shawn Yu.
with nic tse and shawn yu then you should change the name in old and dangerous. him law as chan ho nam is really a miscast,there is simply no suitable young actor in hong kong that has the charisma to portray the iconic chan ho nam.

As for this TVB casted YND, as much as I like Him in THC, I never liked him in any of his movies and now the whole YND look too ‘TVB’ because of the TVB faces of Him, Oscar, Jazz and Sammy. Don’t get me wrong I like Oscar but TVB face is still TVB face.

Yeah, Oscar, Him, Jazz and Sammy all started out in movies first. In fact, Jazz has acted in several Stephen Chow movies and for his first fame from there.
But, funnily, after they join TVB and gain fame in TVB, they suddenly have a TVB face. Not movie enough. Funny.
What even more ironic, most of the original Y&D cast are from TVB. Ekin, Michael Tse, Jordan Chan and Jason Chu, Francis Ng all started out in TVB. The iconic Chan Ho Nam, Ekin Cheng, even got his fame from TVB. But, it’s ok for them. They don’t have TVB face, according to some.

Whats the go with the bad fashion sense? Those are hideous looking tops the boys are wearing. If I bumped into them on the streets with them looking like that, I wouldn’t be frightened, I would be laughing my head off!
I enjoy watching him, oscar and jazz but its hard to not be distracted by their bad outfits…i prefer the poster with the boys in white, here they just look embarrassingly un-co.
Nothing would be able to beat the original, simple as that, so there is no point in comparing. But i am greatly looking forward to this, even if it turns out not as good (which is most likely in most/all cases of remakes..), sometimes it’s just better off to chilax and enjoy what’s in front of you. Good or bad entertainment, in the end its a form of entertainment.
Edison Chen would depict Chan Ho Nam character better.

Hell no. Edison Chen should stay far away from the Young And Dangerous series. He is an embarassment from an era in which Nicolas Tse was the lead bad-boy, in which he had already played Chan Ho Nam and won a Golden Horse award for.

Are you jealous at Tavia because Him picked her and show off their loving relationship to the whole world? hahaha. The car shaking incident has a blessing in disguise for the couple. Now they can be as openly loving as Aimee and Moses.
I mean now Him’s fans will have to accept Him’s openly loving manners to Tavia, but the couple just like Aimee and Moses couple seem to enjoy their very open public love now. Sooner or later people will forget the car scandal of Tavia and Him just like how Him’s scandal with Theresa Fu is totally forgotten.

Just watched the “Young and Dangerous: Reloaded” trailer. Didn’t see Him do much in trailer aside from looking pretty; don’t sense a dangerous side.
Sammy Shum stood out in the trailer; just hope he doesn’t overact in the film.
Gotta agree this really made them look corny, imo it would way too hard to find someone who could look as cool as Ekin did in the role.
On a side note: @ 1:18 if you pause quick enough while the comic pages are flipping you can see the original cast.
