Kevin Cheng Shows Off Beautiful Mother
Who is the most beautiful woman in Kevin Cheng’s (鄭嘉穎) heart? The 43-year-old Ip Man <葉問> star, who has aged extremely well, thinks that his mother is the greatest beauty he knows.
Kevin posted a photo of his mother in her youth on Weibo yesterday. There is a strong resemblance between Mrs. Cheng and Kevin; 3,700 fans were quick to praise her beauty. Some fans found Mrs. Cheng’s beauty to bear resemblance to Kathy Chow (周海媚) and Crystal Liu (劉亦菲), writing, “No wonder Kevin is so handsome; he has such good genes!”
When Kevin was a young boy, Mrs. Cheng was a nurse and worked night shifts. His father was a businessman and frequently away on business trips. After his father passed away, Kevin decided to move from Los Angeles, where he was pursuing a Civil Engineering degree, to be with his mother in Hong Kong. Kevin is a well-known filial son and often cites his mother to be the reason that he worked so hard for success, so he can provide for her better in her elderly years.
Earning 500,000 RMB per episode filming in China, Kevin has become a millionaire, allowing him to purchase two condo apartments for $10.8 million HKD at the Park Ave residential buildings in Tai Kok Tsui in August. One apartment is for his mother and one for his sister.

So that’s where Kevin got his genes and I often wondered from whom they had come. He’s indeed fortunate because in his line of work one needs to look good and he certainly does. Being filial to his mother shows a man’s character and to me Kevin is a fine person, at his work and outside.

He gets his mother’s genes, especially his eye brows which are almost identical to his mom’s. Kevin was super handsome when he was in his 20s, but unfortunately he was not popular.

Thinking it over Kevin is indeed gracious to show off his mother as one feels he is proud of her and that is really a tribute beacause she is not only beautiful but good to her children, supporting Kevin through his rough days in Taiwan. Kevin is extremely handsome, male model quality, and keeping a good physique even at his age (well, one has to in the entertainment world). It should not be a surprise if he’s a smoker, many celebs do but just not caught on camera.
Many people berated his acting but in my opinion, it’s on level with some other more popular tvb artists. This could come about because of his ‘aloof’ behaviour/personality. Recalling his interview with Stephen Chan in “Be My Guest”, he had some lonely years in LA where he stayed with his relatives while in college/university. Under such circumstances, one develops a sense of ‘survival skills’ (note this is also the case with Nicky Wu). For those hard years in Taiwan, he had it tough but his mum still supported him. Some celebs may choose to avoid such personal questions but he was not shy of that fact. That’s why he loves and respects her so much.
There were reports that he’s actually not that friendly to fans, proud and aloof (even at work). I think because he felt he has earn his success all due to his own hardwork and perserverance, naturally he has his right to be ‘the tall, handsome, silent type’ while trying not to create unnecessary gossips and just concentrate on his job. Those who knows him well can attest to it.

I think Kevin Cheng gets warmed up very slowly. He really has to know you first before he will talk easily with you. Once he knows you, he will be okay. He is not the person who will initiate the conversations.

I still remember an incident related by Wayne Lai while he was filming ‘Trimming Success’. He has some personal problem that upset and troubled him. So, after work he stayed back in the studio (maybe to think over the problem?) Kevin Cheng stayed back quietly to accompany him. Kevin didn’t speak much at that time, but, Wayne Lai appreciated the gesture.
Aloof, yes, proud, maybe but nothing indicates an arrogant man. He has loosen up a lot. Maybe he wasn’t friendly because he doesn’t know how to deal with affectionate people, not many are anyway and I’d rather he be the way he is rather than false modesty. I like the way he handles tough questions, he answers them and moves on . Lately he has opened up a lot. He is less serious, less stressed up with himself and seems very relaxed. I feel he has also become very friendly with his fans, to the point like I feel he seriously is appreciative of all the attention and success. And for that I do not find him fake at all. All these points to someone I feel who is a genuinely nice person. He gives me an impression you can approach him and he will still be amazed why you want to approach him. That sort of guy.
