Makiyo Makes Lackluster Comeback
Last February, Taiwanese-Japanese entertainer Makiyo and her friend, Takateru Tomoyori, physically assaulted a taxi driver, Mr. Lin, after he refused to drift race the car upon the pair’s request. Mr. Lin sustained serious head injuries and rib fractures. The assault was recorded on video by a traffic camera. Police authorities immediately arrested the pair after the tape was submitted.
Originally sentenced to 10 months of prison, Makiyo pleaded guilty, and her sentence was reduced to three years of probation. The actress-singer later pleaded in court that she was under the influence of alcohol. An out-of-court settlement of 3 million TWD was later reached with Mr. Lin.
Makiyo finally made a comeback last Friday, January 18, after nearly a year out of the entertainment scene. She performed three of her hit singles – “Care for Me Forever” <養我一輩子>, “Wake Up”, and “Say You Love Me Everday” <天天說愛我> for a show in Malaysia.
The reception was underwhelming. Despite wearing a revealing, low-cute lace dress while dancing and singing at the same time, the audience reacted dully to Makiyo’s breathless performance. There were many awkward silences in between dance numbers, and no one came for Makiyo’s aid when she forgot some of her lyrics.
Makiyo, who earned 300,000 TWD for her15-minute performance, expressed that she would donate all of her remunerations to charity. She expressed that it took her a lot of courage to return to the industry after the amount of pressure she had to face from the public after the drunken assault incident.
The 28-year-old also announced that she has plans to release a full-length album in the coming months. She is also looking forward to enter the mainland Chinese market. Putting the past behind her, Makiyo will now place all of efforts in her music career, hoping that she will return to the industry in a fierce comeback.

Forget it Makiyo. What you did was akin to a guest going into a house and beat up the host … and you still want the host and his bigger cousin to continue to welcome you?!? Go home.
I think she received the response she deserved.
Makiyo…凸(︶ε︶メ)凸!!
serves her right after beating an innocent man like an animal.
Yea but even animals should not be mistreated and abused.
If karma still works, what goes around comes around… I can’t believe that she is so thick skinned and still wants to make a comeback after all that she has done. I guess she has no shame at all.
The problem with her is, she denied hitting the cab driver not until when there was a video to show the proof which she can’t deny anymore. She can still make a comeback and move on, but it is up to us as public whether to accept her or buy her album etc. As what she did was really overboard and someone innocent was severely injured due to that.
Woa, can’t believe a girl like her could beat someone up so badly. Her face doesn’t show she’s bad, but I guess you can’t judge the book by its cover. But still, as a girl, to just beat some innocent ppls up and beat them up quite badly is just showing how rotten/nasty you are inside >__<
She should have gone to jail not just on probation. Even one month would have been something she’ll never forget. It just seems like she paid her way out of jail time. Anyway, no amount of money could compensate the horrible injuries she gave the taxi driver. It would scar him and his family for life.
What I want to know is, how much damage did she contribute to the head injuries and rib fractures
She got what she deserve. Can’t believe she think she will still be welcome with open arms after what she did to that poor cab driver.
she should already count her blessings she didn’t get booed off stage or had rotten eggs thrown at her.
Full length album? she can’t even sing.
She used to laugh about how people bought her album when she can’t even sing, she was in Kang Xi a lot because of her best bud Dee Hsu. Wonder Dee will help her out now by inviting her to kang xi again??.
