Kenneth Ma Remains a Bachelor on Valentine’s Day
With Valentine’s Day only 3 days away, Kenneth Ma (馬國明) will likely be dateless on that evening. After filming 100 episodes last year, including the successful The Hippocratic Crush <On Call 36小時>, Kenneth Ma’s popularity rose steeply. Due to his tall handsome physique and wholesome image, Kenneth is beloved by female audiences of all ages. How is it possible that Kenneth is still a bachelor?
Since breaking up with Nancy Wu (胡定欣) in 2011, Kenneth’s love life has been dry. His prolific filming schedule last year, which lead to many nights where he slept only 2 to 3 hours, robbed Kenneth of any opportunity to meet and date women.
Matchmakers Failed to Deliver
Matchmakers also failed to introduce any quality women to Kenneth. Admitting that his circle is very small, Kenneth revealed that his former crush, Selena Li (李詩韻), had promised to introduce women to him. Yet, he has not even seen a photo of any of the promised women from Selena.
One of Kenneth’s mother’s friends had also mentioned that she knew of a good girl to introduce to him. However, his star status frightened away any possible matches. “When the girl heard my name, she was scared away. Negative rumors will affect my image in one way or another. No wonder they [the women] think that people in this industry have playful hearts.”
The Season of Love <戀愛季節>star’s requirements for a girlfriend are not high and remain pragmatic. He did not mind if the woman was older than him and it was more important that they get along comfortably. Unable to meet someone that satisfies his requirements, Kenneth prefers not to date casually and waste his time.
An Innocent First Love
Kenneth’s first dating relationship occurred when he was a 20-year-old engineering student at the University of British Columbia. As with many people, Kenneth still remembers his first love vividly. He laughed and said that his behavior was quite foolish. After school, Kenneth would stay on campus for several hours in order to wait for the girl he liked to walk home together. Each time Kenneth recalled the relationship, he felt it was very innocent and romantic.
With his overly pragmatic personality, Kenneth admitted that he rarely gifted women with floral bouquets in the past. The 38-year-old said that he only gave his girlfriends flowers once or twice in the past, as he preferred to give practical gifts that can be used instead.
At a floral shop yesterday, Kenneth hand-tied a bouquet of flowers under the shop owner’s guidance while promoting his new series, Season of Love. With the bouquet completed, Kenneth wished that lovebirds will find happiness and get married.
Golden Opportunities Ahead
The Hippocratic Crush gave Kenneth the My Favorite Male Character Award at the 45th TVB Anniversary Awards and the Best Actor Award at Malaysia’s Astro on Demand Awards last year. With Kenneth resuming his popular doctor role in The Hippocratic Crush 2, fans will be assured to learn that he will not be overshadowed by veteran actor, Lawrence Ng (吳啟華), joining the cast.
“At first, I was concerned that the sequel was produced for the sake of filming another sequel. However, the story flows well for now and there are no awkward points. Producer Poon Ka Tak (潘嘉德) distributed the scenes among the characters well and will not cast Lawrence Ng to the side. There is room for development for everyone. Tavia Yeung (楊怡) and I will continue our love relationship. Mandy Wong (黃智雯) and Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪) are a couple. Him Law (羅仲謙) will be paired with Eliza Sam (岑麗香) and Lawrence Ng will have romantic development with Tracy Chu (朱千雪).”
Although Kenneth remains one of the most highly utilized leading male actors at TVB, he hopes to have time to film a mainland Chinese production this year, to expand on his perspective and elevate his acting skills by partnering with new artists.

Kenneth should be cast in TVB’s version of reality TV show, “The Bachelor” where he can find love.
If he doesn’t mind matchmakers and is too busy to look on his own, “The Bachelor” would be helpful to give him a few dates.
Even better if they get Selena, Sharon, Rebecca etc to fight over him 😀

I hope that Tracy Chu will not turn out to be another Rebecca Zhu. She is so green and inexperienced and will be paired up with the veteran Lawrence Ng.
Wat? He’s a UBC graduate? Didn’t know that. In SSSS, his English is terrible, never in my mind I would think he’d lived in Canada and even a university graduate, too. Sorry but his accent even worse than my parents whose don’t even speak English that well.
I will also be spending Valentine’s Day alone.

If Lawrence is paired with Tracy Chu then what’s Louisa So’s role going to be? Hard for me to imagine she’s only playing a supporting role.

This reporter is not doing Kenneth any favor with the above statement. Those said women might be offended and insulted that they were considered inferior in quality therefore beneath Kenneth.
Maybe he has 2 possible problems;
1. he has too high expectation in the woman of his choice OR
2. he is already in love with someone unattainable
And a possible third;
Maybe he is a terrible boyfriend
Possibly 2.

Of course, the above headline is so written to sell news. Nancy’s words in the interview were of course taken out of context.
But obviously some KM fans did not even bother to read the whole interview as they flocked to Nancy’s weibo to leave offensive comments there, to which she responded with comments of her own.

Those fans are indeed idiots. Nancy was pissed at the reporters for fabricating fake stories about her and not Kenneth, but some Kenneth fans thought their beloved idol got insulted and started attacking Nancy. Funniest thing is some of them even said Nancy has low IQ/EQ.
BTW, the full interview also talked about Nancy’s thoughts after being in tvb for so many years, her supporting awards, not being a lead actress and her current boyfriend.
