Joey Yung Pays for Wilfred Lau’s Travel Expenses
Joey Yung (容祖兒) and Wilfred Lau’s (劉浩龍) relationship has survived the odds despite a rocky beginning. Joey regularly sleeps at Wilfred’s apartment two to three times per week to increase their cuddling time. The lovers will soon fly to the United States in May, with Joey reported to pay for Wilfred’s travel expenses.
Last July, Wilfred’s sudden announcement of the relationship was condemned by many, since it put the limelight on Joey and Denise Ho’s (何韻詩) past romance. Joey’s boss, EEG founder Albert Yeung (楊受成), publicly blasted Wilfred for being stupid and questioned his intentions for announcing the relationship in such a high profile manner, as it undoubtedly put Joey in a stressful situation.
After the initial backlash, Joey and Wilfred handled their romance in a more understated manner. Joey reduced her work output last year, only releasing a Mandarin album and did not have time to complete her Cantonese album. Joey wished to spend more time with Wilfred and the couple was seen hiking together in the mountains earlier.
Sleeping Over at Wilfred’s Apartment
The paparazzi recently crashed a lunch date between Joey and Wilfred. Joey did not change her clothes from the day before, in which she was spotted shopping on her day off. She had obviously spent the last 18 hours sleeping over at Wilfred’s apartment. The couple dined for one hour and Joey paid for the bill.
A source close to Joey revealed that sleeping at Wilfred’s apartment has become a regular habit for the 32-year-old pop diva. Although Joey owns $300 million HKD in real estate properties and currently resides in a 3,000 square foot home with sweeping water views, she chose to sleep over at Wilfred’s much smaller apartment.
“Joey never minded the gap between Wilfred and herself. She felt that as long as it is true love, then nothing else matters. Many times, Joey can ask Wilfred to sleep over at her own home, as her mom doesn’t mind. But Wilfred feels conscious and it’s not good to stay over at his girlfriend’s house. So Joey would rather sleep at Wilfred’s 500 square feet apartment instead. Sometimes she will sleep over for two to three times in a week,” the inside source revealed.
Joey Treats Wilfred to Vacation
In May, Joey will take a dance training class in the United States to prepare for her year-end Hong Kong concert. Although EEG had organized the trip for her, Joey will mix business with pleasure as she plans to bring Wilfred along. Joey will allegedly pay for all of Wilfred’s travel expenses.
“Joey treats Wilfred really well. She knows that he doesn’t earn a lot of money and never asked him to buy any expensive gifts. Occasionally, she will ask him to buy some inexpensive items such as iPhone accessories, which are only several hundred dollars [HKD] only. On the other hand, Joey will always give him branded clothing, which are tens of thousands of dollars [HKD] each. When they traveled to Japan and South Korea together, Wilfred flew on Joey’s accrued mileage with the airline. Joey didn’t want her boyfriend to waste money,” the source revealed Joey’s considerateness.

I have a feeling she’s a lesbian, but because of certain pressures from her job and industry she can’t admit it. Just a feeling, tho. But if she wants to pay for Wilfred’s travel expenses, so be it. She’s got the money, it’s her money, and she can spend it however she wants. It was just annoying when Albert Yeung spoke to the press about how he’s just worried about her because she’s innocent and naive and easily trusts people. Give me a break! She’s 32, she’s not a child anymore. I think Mr. Yeung is just worried about the reaction of her fans and how it may affect her (and as a result, him) financially.

I believe she was a heterosexual who became a lesbian and now realises she likes men and so back to heterosexual. In other words she is bisexual.
True love should cast aside earning capacity and wealth gap. This is a great modern example… House husband should be equally acceptable!
I agree and times are different now so what is the big deal if the woman makes more and is the sole provider. I don’t feel it is right when women just take and take from the guys, so it is acceptable for the girl to spoil and take care of her man too.
Not all women have a take and take mentality, granted there are probably quite a fair few with that. I think Joey in this case is a good example of not taking, but yet gracious enough to not look down upon Wilfred.
Indeed as you’ve said it’s no big deal! Feminism is not demanding affirmative action, but being successful in a level playing field with men, yet able to accept that “love” and “spoil” can come in non materialistic things… An useful iPhone accessory that is wanted is far better than any branded goods!

My view on Wilfred has been good so far, despite his high profile on disclosing the relationship.
In one of Big 4’s interview, I sensed a genuine person. I doubt he’s in it for Joey’s money and Joey has been in enough relationships to know whether he’s a scum.

To me that’s nothing wrong who pay the bills if Joey can affort them there’s no big deal we are living in a modern world.
This relationship reminds me of Louis Cheung and Kay Tse’s relationship. Their relationship used to always be branded as ‘woman on top’ and Louis always got made fun of as depending on his wife because his wife is more famous. Some people even gave him the nickname of ‘Louis Tse’. I’m happy that this relationship lasted despite all the harsh criticism and ridicule. I hope Joey and Wilfred’s relationship will have the same success.
