More Rape in “Rosy Business 3: No Reserve”

*Spoilers*

As the third installment of the super successful Rosy Business <巾幗梟雄> franchise, No Reserve <巾幗梟雄之諜血長天> naturally became the center of media attention when it entered production. Set against the backdrop of the Second Sino-Japanese War during the late 1930s, it has been said that No Reserve’s suggestive plot and thematically dark tone will mark a new “heavy flavor” milestone for the TVB network.

The casting of Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) as the promiscuous special agent, Cheung Kei Sang, drew in many headlines prior to the official production of the drama. According to the official synopsis, Cheung Kei Sang will get raped, tortured, and will often have to use her own body to gain access to military intelligence. Similarly, Edwin Siu’s (蕭正楠) bold role as the mentally deranged Chau Sai Kai will have him sodomizing and punishing others. And to think that two characters getting involved with sexual assault is not enough, let’s add three – Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) also plans to join the “rape party.”

According to the spoilers revealed by Next Magazine, Wayne’s role as the Japanese-raised Kong Hung will be forcibly sodomized by the Japanese troops when he was a boy. This traumatic experience will give rise to Kong Hung’s psychoticism later in the story. Kong Hung’s wife, portrayed by Celine Ma (馬蹄露), will also have to reveal her bare back.

Wayne and Myolie Share Intense Smooch

Last Friday, Wayne and Myolie filmed an intense kissing scene in the outskirts of Nam Sang Wai. The said scene is about guerrilla warrior Kong Sheung Hung – Kong Hung’s younger twin – getting attacked and later saved by Cheung Kei Sang and another comrade, portrayed by Lee Tim Sing’s (李添勝) new favorite, Kelvin Lee (李興華). The wounded Kong Sheung Hung hallucinates and mistakes Cheung Kei Sang to be his wife, portrayed by Griselda Yeung (楊卓娜), whom he was forced to kill. Kong Sheung Hung grabs a hold of Cheung Kei Sang and passionately kisses her.

Next Magazine reported that Wayne and Myolie’s kiss was so intense that Wayne’s fake mustache ripped off.

Perhaps it was to prepare their emotions for the heartbreaking scene, but Wayne and Myolie rarely interacted with each other that night. Myolie, however, did have a long chat with Kelvin Lee.

Myolie’s Depression Returned?

To pick up the flag that was once held by Sheren Tang (鄧萃雯) is not an easy task, and it was rumored that Myolie’s depression returned after shooting No Reserve.

A source disclosed, “When Myolie was filming To Grow with Love <肥田囍事> [in 2006], she had to gain and lose weight in a very short time frame, so it took a toll on her health. Her mood was unstable and she had to rely on medication. When she began to shoot for No Reserve, she admitted to others that she had a lot of pressure, which sparked her mood disorder to return.”

Indeed, Myolie has admitted multiple times that she felt great pressure when she agreed to take on the role as Cheung Kei Sang, but Myolie denied claims that she is on medication, “I really do not suggest taking medication. I’ll rather use my will and determination to release stress.”

Myolie wants to take a long vacation after the shooting of No Reserve. “To somewhere with sunny beaches, so I can have a chance to relax my emotions.”

  1. Plot looks good, definitely a hit drama like singapore drama unriddle 2 in terms of daring plot and emotional scenes.

Viewership may not be good, hong kong conservative parents will not allow their kids to watch a drama with heavy amount of rape involve but i guess to rival the other station, plot must be more exciting than ever, looking forward!

  2. Hmmm… on one hand, I’m tired of all the rape plots they try and add in, but since this series was set during the Nanking Massacre, it’s being realistic since a lot of people were raped during that time. I am surprised that they’re going this dark for this series.

    1. I have a feeling this drama will get lots of complaints and possibly low ratings as no drama so far that contains such dramatic scenes manage to get good ratings.

  3. I guess this rape thing is TVB “new” idea and creative thinking of their writers? Practically all recent releases contains rape scenes

    1. Yup! I’m shocked tvb is adding so much rape considering the fact majority of the viewers are housewives.

  4. I will be more shocked when there’s a TVB show that doesn’t feature rape scenes.

  5. I hope Myolie is able to release some the pressure she has from filming this series.

And i hope this drama is good… since it is set in the 1920s.

  6. Well, everybody’s getting raped these days. At least this is different.

  7. It’s silly since the “rape” in the dramas we’ve seen isn’t really that “dark”- it seems they’re trying to make it seem dark but turns out to be lame. (not that i like rape or think its not enough) i think it’s too overrated. Why do they feel we want rape in it. Tvb is meant to have family-friendly series…

  8. The plot does not sound that good. Dramatic, yes. But nothing special.

  9. Watever n no bragging needed, aren’t we all looking forward to it TVB! Yea, bring it on mann!

  10. It’s about spies and the Japanese during WWII. I would be surprised if there won’t be any rape scenes.

Who’s Kelvin Lee? Name doesn’t ring a bell.

  11. Rape scenes must be flavour of the month, or rather for quite awhile. If it’s necessary, then it’s ok and not just thrown in to stir ‘juices’.

Myolie should know what pressure to expect before signing on. It’s good for her resume but let’s hope not at the expense of her health.

Personally, I think Myolie would feel really uncomfortable with Wayne in these scenes due to age difference.

  12. Wow, this series can rival ‘Master of Play’ in darkness.

  13. why is tvb putting rape scenes in every of their drama? b-oring.
