Wayne Lai’s Memories of His Mother
Wayne Lai’s (黎耀祥) acting career has gone from being a forgettable kelefe player to being a three-time Best Actor winner. Without an utter of complaint and disappointment, Wayne’s mother stayed by his side for twenty long years, supporting her son through thick and thin. A loving and caring mother, Wayne saw her as his role model, and just like his mother, Wayne hopes to set a good example for his son, demonstrating the same affection that his mother once gave to him.
The 48-year-old actor’s celebrated career took off after starring in 2009’s Rosy Business <巾幗梟雄>, winning his first Best Actor honor at the TVB Anniversary Awards. Unfortunately, Wayne’s mother was unable to witness her son’s glory. In March 2006, his mother passed away in her sleep.
Seven years later, Wayne still misses his mother. Mother’s Day always reminded Wayne of the sacrifices his mother had made for his family and how upsetting and hurting it has been for not being able to share his current acting achievements with his mother.
“My most regretful thing is that I was never able to share the happiness of my successes to [Mom]. Not just for the Best Actor win, but even for the Best Supporting Actor award years before. If she is still here, I would tell her that I miss her, that I really want to share everything I have now with her, and that I love her.”
According to Wayne, his mother was a “wise adult; [she] was able to look through everything and think through anything. [She] gave much freedom to my siblings and I, and allowed us to pursue whatever we were comfortable and happy with. She never fussed over the small things, never stubbornly held onto the big things, and was very independent.”
He recalled that his mother was someone who took holiday celebrations and customs very seriously, and would prepare the proper food for the appropriate holiday. “On the first day of the (Lunar) new year, we would eat vegetarian dishes. We would all get new clothes, including the house maid. Our family still holds onto these traditions today.”
Wayne always thought that his mother was someone who loved cleanliness and organization, but a few years after his mother’s death, he and his siblings discovered sixty sets of old clothes, all folded meticulously in big bags that were hidden deep inside the closet. They also discovered a wad of cash that accumulated to nearly $1 million HKD – his mother never really spent the money that her children gave her.
“She saved the money for us. [She] is the perfect mother.”

Strong motherly figure saving all that hard earned money for her children. She must be tough and patient. Curious that there was no mention of his father and mother relationship.
Aptos,
Waiting to the Father’s Day he may tell you something about his Dad. To day is Mother’s Day so that he just recalled to his Mom’s only. His above picture looks really cool.
What a strong woman.
He is a filial son. Besides his talent he also posseses a good personality that making him more appealed to be a TV King even though he is not handsome like RON, KM,or RL.
