Rachel Lee and Gloria Yip Invited to Star in “Aerobic Girls”
Produced by Eric Tsang (曾志偉), TVB drama Aerobic Girls will be a grand production aimed to raise viewership ratings. Several recognized veteran actresses were invited to star in the series, including Flora Chan (陳慧珊), Sheren Tang (鄧萃雯), Anita Yuen (袁詠儀), Teresa Mo (毛舜筠), Veronica Yip (葉玉卿), and Patricia Ha (夏文汐). It was reported that Rachel Lee (李麗珍) and Gloria Yip (葉蘊儀), will now star in the drama opposite Lawrence Ng (吳啟華).
Rachel, who is now 47 years old, once possessed a sexy body figure that attracted thousands of men. She won the Best Actress award at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival in 1999. Currently in mainland China, Rachel replied to Hong Kong reporters via a text message that she is in discussion with TVB, but has not confirmed anything at the moment. Rachel added that since she has not filmed a drama in so many years, she is afraid she would not be used to it.
Allegedly, Aerobic Girls will feature young versions of the four main female leads as well, and it was originally planned that the girls from Paco Wong’s (黃柏高) Sun Entertainment Culture, As One, will take the roles. However, reports stated that there was an internal power struggle in TVB. Variety show production director, Sandy Yue (余詠珊), was rumored to be dissatisfied with any bias towards a certain entertainment company and ordered to set things right. Thus, As One lost their opportunity to take part in the drama. A spokesperson of Sun Entertainment Culture revealed that As One had already finished their audition, but heard no news afterwards.
The final four girls selected to take part as young versions of the leads in Aerobic Girls are Heidi Lee (李靜儀) and Cheronna Ng (吳嘉熙) from Super Girls, Kandy Wong (黃山怡) from Sugar Club (糖兄妹), and Annice Ng (吳燕菁) from AOA.

Wow, haven’t heard from these 2 in a long time. I have only watched them act in a few series back in the 90s and wouldn’t mind seeing them again on the small screen.
Me too and it would be great to see them again. I have not seen them in a long long time and would love to see them on the screen again. Memories…
so basically, these 2 are now replacing the others who were “invited to star in this grand production”
Flora Chan (陳慧珊), Sheren Tang (鄧萃雯), Anita Yuen (袁詠儀), Teresa Mo (毛舜筠), Veronica Yip (葉玉卿), and Patricia Ha (夏文汐).
There were not even the leading actress in TVB before. Maybe Rachel Lee yes, but Gloria Yip.
Definitely does not sound like a grand production anymore
agree eric should try and see if andy will film this series as well
I really hope that Andy agrees because I have not seen him in a series for many years.
Noob move
Who are these nobodies? I feel bad for Lawrence. TVB keeps promising him popular leading ladies like in THCII instead he got Tracy Chu. Now these…
another attempt to bring in rating with big names. when are they gonna learn that the script and production is more important?
The plot and script along with other factors are more important than the cast. But sadly, many still blindly go for the cast.
Who is Gloria Yip?
I guess you were not around during the 90s. She was a famous singer and actress during the 90s. She is the one the right in the above 2 photos.
Honestly…when the series was first announced, I was already turned off by the title and premise of the series because both sounded extremely lame…but if a combination of any of the originally ‘rumored’ actresses (i.e. Flora, Sheren, Teresa, Anita, etc.) ended up participating, I would have probably given this series somewhat of a chance (of course, gotta see how the script goes too).
But now, with the cast consisting of pretty much no one I like or care for (except for Flora, though she’s not confirmed yet and maybe Lawrence, though he’s a hit and miss for me), the chance of me watching this just dropped down to ‘zero’ (for the record — I was never fond of Rachel or Gloria’s acting in the first place, so if they end up being in this series, doesn’t make much difference to me).
You know, this just shows how desperate TVB is…they’re pulling at straws right now trying to find veteran artists who are willing to come back and film for them…I mean, if they have to resort to asking the likes of Rachel and Gloria….hmmm….
There seems to be a lot of news about this drama considering it (a) hasn’t started production yet and (b) isn’t an anticipated sequel to a past hit drama. And most of the prior reports were repeatedly about how [veteran actress] was approached but declined to star in the drama. Not exactly a very positive way for it to get started.
I like them a lot! Great they’re returning
Wow, TVB is pulling out all the stops by dabbling into CAT3 drama.
How can any man resist a double feature of “Aerobic Girls” and “TIT2”?
