Moses Chan Denies Rumors About Aimee Chan’s Retirement
Moses Chan (陳豪) is in high spirits after marrying girlfriend Aimee Chan (陳茵媺) in Paris on June 11. While Moses is still hush on possible baby news, the 42-year-old is already back in Hong Kong and working hard to support his new family. Today, Moses was on-set a commercial shoot for Saint Honore Cake Shop’s moon cake campaign. He spoke to reporters about his recent marriage and debunked rumors that Aimee is planning to retire from the entertainment industry.
Moses has been Saint Honore Moon Cake’s spokesperson since 2011. Recently, reports claimed that Moses renewed his endorsement contract with the famous cake shop for a large, undisclosed amount. Moses denied the news, and thanked Saint Honore for its long-term support. A representative of Saint Honore presented Moses with a gift certificate and a wedding cake in celebration of his marriage. Moses happily accepted the gifts and joked, “I want to give out [moon] cakes!”, referring to the Chinese marriage custom.
When asked if he and Aimee’s child is already bringing him good luck, Moses laughed and said, “Okay! But I cannot talk about it yet. When can I talk about it? I will speak when it is time to speak.” When asked about an earlier magazine photo showing Aimee’s baby bump, claiming that the actress is currently ten-weeks pregnant, Moses put a finger to his lips and said “Ssshhh!” in response.
Reporters mentioned recent speculation that Aimee is planning to retire from the entertainment industry to care for their baby, Moses immediately denied the news. “Don’t ruin Aimee’s career! She has a lot of potential. It would be a waste if she stops filming. She can be both a mommy and an actress at the same time. She can find that balance.”
Reporters commented that Moses is working hard to earn “milk money”, a term referring to childcare expenses. He finds the term disgraceful and said that as a man, he must take the responsibility to care for his wife and child. He added that he will travel to Canada to visit Aimee as soon as he completes his work. As his mainland filming schedule may change, he hopes that he will be able to reunite with Aimee for Mid-Autumn Festival.
Moses spoke with Aimee on Father’s Day, and said that he is living the happiest days of his life. Earlier, rumors claimed that the couple is looking to hire Isabella Leong’s (梁洛施) obstetrician in Canada and will give birth at the same hospital. When asked, Moses denied any knowledge about the news, and jokingly asked reporters for the doctor’s contact information. Asked if he will attend prenatal courses, Moses gave a blank look and asked, “What is that?” He added that many of his friends have already become fathers, and that he will ask them for advice.

This is funny. I wonder did anyone asked Angela Tong whether she will retire when she was pregnant? Because it may seem some section is eager for Aimee to retire! Very very funny.
Anyway the child will be holding Canadian passport then?
Maybe because Angela Tong doesn’t film as much recently and isn’t leading in series?
Anyway, if the child will be born in Canada then yes, the child will be a Canadian citizen but I believe even if he/she will be born in Hong Kong as long as one of the parents (Aimee) holds a Canadian passport then he/she will be able to apply for citizenship in the future. (not 100% sure though).

Yes, her baby could get both HK and Canadian citizenship. I heard that Canada is really easy about allowing others to get Canadian citizenship. You can even have citizenship in another country and still apply to get citizenship in Canada from what I heard.

So if Moses wants to be a citizen or landed immigrant, he needs to write the citizenship test (which is hard, I heard from my parents) and he also needs to live in Canada for at least 3 years.
Yeah I don’t understand why the tabloids keep speculating that Aimee and/or Moses will retire from showbiz because of the baby. Is Moses’ cafe business doing that well?

Yeah that’s what I remember reading too. And that’s why it’s funny that the tabloids think that Moses is in a position to retire from showbiz / concentrate on other businesses.
I think he is not that kind of person that can do business nor acting. He should quit acting and should not do business afterwards. Maybe be an accountant since he has a degree in accountancy?
