Kate Tsui Celebrates 34th Birthday
Kate Tsui (徐子珊) received a pleasant surprise when she went to work yesterday. The cast and crew of My Prime Lady <My盛Lady> celebrated their leading lady’s 34th birthday with a surprise party while on location.
Earlier, the production team notified Kate to arrive to the set earlier than scheduled. Unsuspecting, Kate was shocked when co-stars Dayo Wong (黃子華), Sharon Chan (陳敏之), and Grace Wong (王君馨) suddenly appeared with a birthday cake. The birthday girl screamed in excitement and was extremely touched by her colleagues’ kind gesture.
Although Kate’s actual birthday is on June 19, the production team decided to celebrate it early due to Kate’s busy work schedule. At the celebration, Dayo Wong was asked to give Kate a birthday kiss but he jokingly refused. Kate was in high spirits at the party, and shared her plans to celebrate with family and close friends this year. “I am very surprised. This is the first birthday cake I have received this year. No wonder the production team asked me to come in so early. They lied to me! This is very unexpected, I am really touched… I will have to work [on my birthday], but I have already celebrated with my family on Father’s Day. I don’t have anything big planned, but will go out for meals with my friends… I wish for good health, and because this is my first time filming a comedy, I hope our series will be popular!”
Sharon Chan also had a good time at the celebration, sharing that she and the cast put the event together to give Kate a surprise. She added that she will let Kate pick whatever she wants as a birthday gift. Earlier, Sharon suffered an injury on set. During a scene, she was lifted off the ground by wire and was supposed to fall onto the prepared tatami mats. Instead, Sharon missed her mark and landed on the wooden stairs nearby, causing bruises on her legs. Because Kate also slipped on wet ground and injured her tailbone while on set, reporters asked Sharon if she thinks the cast should perform another blessing ceremony to get rid of all the bad luck. Sharon was unfazed by the accidents and replied, “This accident was my own fault! It’s not a big deal, I don’t even need to visit a doctor!”

tvb fadans like kate already old but still have unstable acting and not much achievement in career not even tvb tv queen. meanwhile the age clock is ticking and mainland or korean actresses are much younger and have more achievement

so true. As for the men, men who age are getting more famous in mainland and TVB. FOr the women, younger girls are starrign in mainland china dramas, & older women are rising in TVB.
This past 10 years TVB Queen are normally won by veteran actress such as Louise Lee(2007)Liza wang(2005)Michelle Yim (2008)Maggie Cheung (2003)Sheren Tang (2009,2010)
To me award is something acknowledge all their hard works
Linda Chuang since 2008, almost every year nominated TVB top 5.How come she still cant get it ? Now her age 29, maybe she have to wait until she in her 30’s .

Lol since when is 34 old? TVB queen is just a status it doesn’t really mean anything unless it’s deserving, she has a lot of potential her acting is getting better and better. She’s got to play a fair amount of diverse roles so far in her career, I’ll say she’s pretty lucky and deserving to get to where she is today. She went through a really long phase of hatred and negativity but in recent years her fanbase grew, it’s admirable to see what she’s achieved today not everyone could of handled the hate she got and she managed to be a favorite last year at the awards, one of most the deserving awards if you ask me.
Agree, her acting is getting better and better, I hope she will do well in My prime lady
something that Kate should regret doing was accepting the roles in “Lives of Omission” and “Relic of an Emmissary”. I hated her so much after that coz her acting was horrible, and all she did was purse her lips.
She was no different to a jue hai (soz to all her very few fans)
Can I ask why she should regret for accepting the roles in those 2 dramas you mentioned ?
I thought she was fine in Lives Of Omission, that’s when I started paying more attention to her. She and Bosco had great chemistry in that series, their romance was really realistic. I didn’t think she did so well in Season Of Love but then again no one really did well in that series.

Yeah, I love Paris and Michael love story.
It’s so romatic and passionate. Actually, I’ve loved her since that role. Her acting as a laywer was nothing impressive I must admit, but I think she did rather well in those emotion scenes, especially the ending
Yeah their love story is def one of the better written ones, some ppl are just too shallow to overlook those intense passionate scenes to understand how real their love was and how much they cared for one another. I thought one of the scenes she did well was when she confronted Bosco about tapping into her phone, that slap scene was was genuine hurt in her eyes. Yeah I think one of the reasons I liked her in that role was because of her story with Bosco not necessarily her role individually overall it’s still not her worst work.
Yup, That scene was interesting, they slap each other with hurt in their eyes. and I love the scene which after Paris found out she got a miscarriage,she went to see Michael then they made up too. I love how the script writer let Paris come back to Michael because she was really unhappy when she lost their baby. My cousin said if she was Paris, she would take the miscarriage as a sign and end their relationship completely. But Paris lost the baby, she realized she didn’t want to lose anything between her and Micheal, she just wanted to be with him, nothing else more important.
I really love the emotion in Kate’s eyes in the scene, I don’t know how to describe it, but to me it’s beautiful and full of emotion
Yup even though both of their characters aren’t good ppl but some of us still managed to love them. It was also devastating to see that scene when Kate found out Bosco died, she did well there too. I thought their story was more interesting than Michael and Fala’s, I wish we would of seen more development between them.
Fala and Michael’s love story in LOO was traditional (totally contrasted to Kate and Bosco), it’s kind of bland to my taste, I know a lot of people love them more. I prefer Kate and Bosco, they were both not so likable characters, but I like them anyway, I love the “Hate ̃and love” situation between them, it’s unique and interesting
I would love to watch Bosco and Kate reunite in a new drama/movie
Yeah Michael and Fala’s story was too cliche which was why I preferred Michael and Paris’s story it was fresh but very realistic. They recently paired up in I Love HK, I do want to see them collaborate again in the future

it’s quite funny and touching at the same time. I can’t help laughing my head out at the scene when Bosco’s character gave up moving to US to help the owner of tea shop, then he was scolded by Kate’s character, Kate put out her anger on her husband but smiled and talked nicely to other people in between
replying to all those ppl who replied to my previous comment, yes Kate’s acting was maybe gd, but she definitely ruined her innocent and pure girl image.
Linda chung, however, has been in the entertainment industry for much longer and has still managed to keep her white image. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

What does having a good girl image have anyone to do with her acting ability? Lol before those roles she had unlike able roles too. Just because Linda has that image and she should win TV Queen? That doesn’t make sense, Kate had more better roles in my opinion she got to play so many different characters while Linda has only played the opposite roles not more than 3 times in her career that is why she’s setting back from the TV queen. To be honest I think Linda is the last one of the leading actress to win that award, none of her roles have been TV queen material so far.

Agreed. She went from being the most liked during her Miss HK Contest days to being a name associated with hatred and negativity for too long. She mentioned this herself at last year’s award ceremony. She’s truly an inspiration!
she was favorite during her Miss HK contest ? I didn’t know that. I read some articles which people said she was too normal and average looking to be a Miss HK, so I assumed she was not that liked from the beginning.
I watched some of the videos of Kate during Miss HK 2004, I thought she’s bubbly, cute and very confident. But I thought that was just my biased opinion because I like Kate

agreed! i love Kate and best wishes for her. she is actually quite cool in her acting, she could act tomboyish & capable woman and also acted the softie feminine role. I personally dislike too feminine for main actress on the TV. so many dragging and crying, gosh… cant stand that!

nope, she acted last time as a lust flirty lady and she acted quite good. cant remember which one, it was wuxia. well, i love lady-actress in the tough role, capable and independent. Sharon is also very good. I just watched her recent series as a police.

Kate acted as softie woman in Speech of silence – a partially deaf woman. I think she was Ok there, nothing great but Ok in my opinion

I think the series you’re thinking of is The Four, I thought she was great in there too. Her best work is still in Highs And Lows.
YES! thats the one! 🙂 I love that series. Now when male/female actors/actress can only act one role, that is a bit sad.
I dislike the Four movie (not the series one), that actress, Liu Yifei, is beautiful but she somehow can only act feminine one, sometimes is too disgustingly dragging and too soft and always acted the role where it’s portrayed woman as a tools to be used by men, dont like it at all. well, is just a personal preference which film to watch 🙂
Yeah I agree I prefer seeing women in a more independent and tough role too, I haven’t seen the movie yet though.

Since when has winning tvb queen/king actually meant real achievement, except a bigger pay check. Cos its certainly not about acting talent, rather its just a contest to see who is the most marketable/obedient to management artist and is basically a contest between tvb execs.
Kate looks prettier as she is getting older. So much better than in her early post Miss HK years, now that she has rounded out a bit. Best example of why ppl shoul not be so skinny and actually have some meat on them.

I read somewhere that Louis Yuen made Curry for Kate (or all the casts – not sure), I think the casts of My prime lady are very friendly to each other, the astmosphere on set must be great

I reckon in a few years time, Kate won’t renew her contract. As for Linda, best actress is already guaranteed. She has publicly stated she “vows to win best actress within 2 years” (translation TVB has decided it’s her time). So either this year or next year.
