Wong Cho Lam Meets His “Illegitimate” Daughter

A widely circulated portrait of a toddler girl who physically resembles Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) came to the media’s attention earlier this week. The Weibo photo was forwarded to Cho Lam, who replied, “A secret that has been well-kept for so long…my illegitimate daughter….”

The next day, Cho Lam photoshopped a portrait of himself on the toddler’s face, writing, “Do we look that much alike? Actually… have I gotten drunk before and did something that I didn’t know about? [But] that’s impossible… I don’t drink!”

Cho Lam’s girlfriend, Leanne Li (李亞男), asked on Weibo, “With who?” Cho Lam’s good friend and Gilded Chopsticks <食為奴> costar, Bob Lam (林盛斌), played along and joked, “Wow, brother. She has grown so much. Last time I remembered she still had to be carried!”

At a promotional event for the Pixar animated film Monsters University at Hong Kong Disneyland today, Cho Lam, who did the Cantonese voice of the character “Mike,” got excited at the mention of his “daughter” and humorously expressed, “The resemblance is uncanny. At least 90 percent. I don’t even think my own [biological] children would look as similar!” Asked if he tried to contact the toddler’s family, Cho Lam said, “I am interested. Earlier, Kay Tse (謝安琪) was spotted purchasing a luxury car. Her husband Louis Cheung (張繼聰), Cho Lam’s university classmate and Monsters University costar, told the press that his wife purchased it with his money.

“It was bought with my money. I always give all the money I earn to my wife. The sales associate wanted me to sign the receipt, but after a moment’s thought I decided to get my wife to sign it instead. That’s when the paparazzi snapped pictures. I got pretty upset at that. Next time when I do something like this, I’ll be a little more high-profile about it.”

Cho Lam reminded the press that Louis is a father of a “bold” 6-year-old boy and called Louis a “monster parent.” Cho Lam cried, “His son actually had the guts to say that he is more handsome than his father!”

Louis laughed and said he was proud of his son. The 34-year-old playful father said, “I admit it. I am a ‘monster parent.’ I will leave my children the task to do the things that I was not able to do. For example, my son really knows how to get close with pretty girls like Joey Meng (萬綺雯) and Whitney Hui (許亦妮). One time, Whitney asked my son if he would kiss her on the cheek. My son told her that she must kiss his father first!”
