Charmaine Sheh to Film for TVB At the Start of Next Year?
Currently enjoying a two-month hiatus in Hong Kong, Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) earlier took her family on a vacation to Hawaii. Last night, she appeared at a promotion event for the crystal brand, Swarovski. She laughed and expressed she has a collection of its products at home given to her by fans. Did a boyfriend to give her jewelry? “It’s a secret. I don’t remember anymore!” Charmaine replied.
Asked when she will return to TVB to film, Charmaine said, “There’s still a drama I haven’t completed yet, and it’s currently scheduled to start at the beginning of next year. In the end, the company will notify me. It’s not set in stone, because there are changing factors, such as timing issues. I won’t reveal too much at the moment since I don’t know either.”
Would Charmaine want to participate in a drama such as the popular hit, Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄II>? “The script is good, and the cast is full of handsome guys and beautiful ladies. Of course it’s really popular! But they film once every ten years! I’ll be doomed waiting another ten years,” she laughed.
Recently, Charmaine has been rumored with a rich man from mainland China. She was quick to deny the reports. Charmaine revealed, “I do have a pursuer, but not from mainland China. Right now we’re just friends. We hang out, but with a large group of people. We’re still not at the stage of going out on dates. I haven’t been out on a date for about 10 years! It’s been so long that I don’t even remember.”
Charmaine further revealed that if she finds herself a boyfriend, she will not mind making it public. However, she is afraid her partner would not be able to face media pressure if he works outside the entertainment industry.

I doubt that it will be a big production as Charmaine Sheh is no longer a management-contract actress of TVB. TVB will not promote her any more. However, personally I hope she will film a big production drama series with some solid-acting actor.

Yeah, me too, I like her in long hair. I mean she looks nice with short hair, looks chic but somehow still prefer her with long hair. She still looks very young to me at 38.
Can’t believe Charmaine is 38 already! She definitely looks younger than her age, though I think she looks even younger with longer hair so hope she grows it out soon.

If I were Charmaine, I wouldn’t, especially Benny Chan who is married with kids. With her qualifications and pretty face, she will have too many choices to choose her future husband.
I personally do not find Charmaine pretty but she is attractive in some ways. Also, regardless of how pretty a woman is or how successful she is, when she gets to a certain age it will be harder to find a partner. Charmaine is getting up there in age so it will be harder for her to find a husband, unless she is willing to be with someone that may have already been married or married with kids.
Sorry, meant to say someone that is either divorced with kids or was already married in the past.
I had the impression that Charmaine has feelings for Benny Chan, Kevin, and Chilam. But I also had the impression that Benny was only riding on Charmaine’s popularity when their relationship rumours were rampant back then. Charmaine was already more popular than Benny back then.
Charmaine is starting to show her age, but that’s normal for a woman reaching towards her late 30’s.
Wait what? Charmaine was not popular popular till well after 2006-2007 when TVB artists decide to flee. Benny’s fame sky rocketed after journey to the west 2 which was in 1998. Gods of Honour was in 2001, Dragon Love was somewhere in between….

Charmaine was already very popular in 2002 because of Country Spirit… at that time Benny has already left for Mainland China market. His popularity in HK dropped, combined with the numerous bad press he have in Mainland China. On the other hand, Charmaine continued to rise up the ranks, and thanks to WAB she became very popular in Mainland China too.

Thats why I asked when did they start dating. Lol. I do not consider Charmaine to be THAT popular until she won best actress and TVB had no body. By that time, Charmaine was the only “King” left on TVB’s chess board.
Or maybe not just someone as successful as Benny or kevin
Btw, Charmaine doesn’t need to ‘settle’ for divorced/man with kids. It’s totally her choice whether she wants to get married and have kids or not. She earned all the money herself (and enough to live comfortably this lifetime) and she’s looking for a soulmate who have the same philosophy as her, not a child bearing machine/wife hunter.
@Crystal, your perception does not equal the actual popularity of Charmaine vs Benny pre 2006.
Any longtime follower of TVB news or HK news circa 2002 – 2008 period will acknowledge that Charmaine was the ‘IT girl’ and frequently featured in news/tabloid, the media wouldn’t bother to write so much abt her (be it negative or positive) if the general public doesn’t have that keen interest.
p.s. Charmaine was rumored to be dating Benny from 2002 – 2006.
Lol I am not comparing Charmaine and Benny’s popularity in my last post. I am just talking about Charmaine. Her popularity was rising in the early 2000s. Her popularity was set in stone after she won best actress and when TVB was vacant. That was all.

And I have been a long time follower, since the mid 90s up until now. Being featured here and there, positive or negative, I mean no one beats Sonjia right? Being the negative/con IT factor… for like every little thing. Was she popular? Nah not really. More like media gets money from her cray cray news. Lol.

I didn’t follow the HK news quite as closely since I rely on translations but I don’t recall Sonija being that “popular”. And in any case, Sonija’s news was almost exclusively bad while Charmaine’s was mixed and up for interpretation.
And well, Charmaine was/is frequent news because her news sell. But yes, I don’t suppose that necessarily translate into “popularity”.

That’s why I brought up Sonjia if tabloids/news worthy is what translates over to ‘popularity’ then I would think Sonjia would be SUPER popular. Because you know, all her news were pretty bad in her early years of the entertainment industry. And they definitely sold and was the buzz of the town for some time.
And Charmaine is popular. Yes. Definitely. I’m not denying that just it wasn’t in the early 2000s.

But I still don’t think there was more news about Sonija in comparison to Charmaine. And while it’s true that lots of news =/= popularity, lots of news does indicate lots of public interest in Charmaine. And lots of public interest, regardless of positive or negative does translate into higher commercial interest which means Charmaine was a bankable star.
I guess the better debate would be, what is popularity? Lol. I think this is where the disagreements are. Yes, she is of interest to the public and thus worthy to be in the news, so I guess yes by definition of the word, she was really popular. Infamous would be the better word.
But what I meant by popular was her status in TVB. She definitely was not popular popular within the station in the early 2000s, not when all the other real Fadans were around, Ada, Flora, Gigi, Melissa, Maggie etc. Thats why I said her popularity (status) was set in stone after TVB had nobody which was sometime around she won Best Actress for that horrible series. Well, that’s another debate…hopefully saved for another time.

I do understand and agree with you that lots of interest isn’t necessarily equal to a) popularity and b) a high status in TVB. However, I believe the discussion originates from the discussion about whether Benny Chan was riding on Charmaine’s popularity or not? In terms of that discussion, I think that Charmaine being a highly commercial actress, i.e. making quite good money, would make her just as, if not more appealing than having a high status/popularity in TVB. LOL, but of course, it’s an entirely theoretical discussion because we don’t know for sure they really date (I can’t remember if it was confirmed) or that there’s was anything but genuine love between them if they did.
Lol. I wasnt really discussing who was riding whos popularity. I was specifically talking about Charmaine after sehseh informed me about the whole popularity thing in the early 2000s.
As to if they were together..I believe so. Because Charmaine usually says “no. Not at all. No way” if it really isnt true. But I remember in an episode of the variety show super trio supreme, eric tsang teased her. And she was smiling and laughing and said “very very good friends…” lol. It was pretty cute.

^ I disagree with “she only had one lead role”. She was the main female lead in Fantasy Hotel and one of the three female leads in La Femme Desperado.
Charmaine Sheh looks pretty with either long or short hair. I like her eyes the best, very bright and sharp.
As a matter of fact, not every actress looks good with short hair.
Jessica Hsuen looks good with short hair and so does Myolie.

Agree. Jessica Husan looks good with short hair. Myolie Wu sometimes looks okay with short hair, but definitely not in her character, Summer, in TITS 2. She shows that she is super skinny and has very look neck. She only looks good with slightly longer hair and heavy makeup. She looks fairly bland in TITS 2.

Have always liked her since her debut. Saw improvement in her from her chubby looks till now; she dropped the ‘chicky’ voice what the HongKies called it; she is alright in her acting. Hope to see her drama soon.
I think the series she might be taking part of next year is the one with Tony Leung Ka Fei and Raymond Lam.
Yes, TVB have been promising Charmaine the opportunity to work with Tony Leung, that’s why she tentatively said yes. However, judging from what she replied in interview(s), TVB have not confirmed Tony’s participation yet. End of the day TVB might fail in signing on Tony, like they failed with Nick Cheung and Deanie Yip.
I was so disappointed when Nick Cheung fell through because I had been looking forward to him and Charmaine collaborating since I saw the trailer. Hope the Tony Leung thing comes through for Charmaine’s sake.

I think it’s just a rumor. I don’t know, I always feel Charmaine should go with someone outside the industry, someone very rich…lol… She needs that kind of security.
As for Kevin, he reminded me of Alex Fong the silent kind- maybe a very strong & beautiful woman 🙂
Charmaine does not need that kind of security, because she makes good money herself. However, perhaps only a really rich man would be confident enough for someone as independent as Charmaine.
