Chilam Cheung Celebrates 42nd Birthday on Chinese Valentine’s Day
The Qixi Festival – also known as Chinese Valentine’s Day – falls on the seventh day of the seventh month in the lunar calendar, but this special day also marks Chilam Cheung’s (張智霖) 42nd Lunar birthday.
Tonight, Chilam and fellow actress-wife Anita Yuen (袁詠儀) took a break from their busy work schedules to have a romantic dinner at a popular ramen restaurant in Hong Kong. Anita snapped several pictures of their ramen bowl and posted it on her Weibo, writing, “Eating ramen. My lord’s birthday wish was to eat ramen, and [he] gets his wish granted today. [We] didn’t even need to line up. Summoning the wind and calling the rain does have its benefits.”
That night, Hong Kong issued a typhoon signal number 3 – an indication of persisting strong winds at sea level. Due to the typhoon warning, there were fewer customers than usual at the ramen restaurant.
Chilam also posted on his Weibo, writing, “Today is my lunar birthday… I have really summoned the wind and called the rain!”
Chilam’s popularity rose since appearing in the currently broadcast TVB drama, Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄II>, which has been consistently drawing over 2 million viewers per night.

HOLYYYY.. He’s 43??? omg
He’s actually 42, since he was born in 1971 there was just an error
LOL he is so cute didn’t even know he was that old !
I thought he was a bit older. LOOOL.
but aweeee they look so cute together 🙂
Wow, each of the leads is about a decade apart! Chilam is 43, Ron is 33, Francis is 51? 52? And all of them looks almost the same, ok maybe not Francis but Ron and Chilam looks closer in age.
Oh Ron, what have you done to yourself?!
Ron Ng had gained some weight in TITS 2, which might have made him look older and maturer.
I laughed at your comment about Ron..hahah..
ron was fat and now its muscle some people cant tell the different between bulk muscle and fat hahah
but then skinny people call muscle fat
Haha… Ron does look a bit chubbier these days i think so we might think he isn’t as sharp as when he first debuted but compares to Raymond Lam i think Ron still got it in a way? ahha…
Francis, OMG… I am sorry he looks really old to me esp w/his head being so big and yet he’s still always pairs up w/very young stars but w/TVB actresses’ they are NOT that young so it seems ok but when he was in that china movie w/that 20 something’s man he looks really like ‘ GOLDFISH MALE’ think cantonese metaphor hahaha.LOL…
As Chi Lam, I never watched anything of him these days even this TITS2 i didnt even finish part 1 so needlessly to say i am not interested to watch this continuation but i guess he still looks good for his age but he does aged quite a bit but still looks great of course esp next to the wife. wow, thats not a good pic of her. haha LOL…
Anita looks tired and a bit haggard in the picture.
U said it, right on. Self proclaimed ‘
liang liang’ no more? haha… b4 posting those pics on twitter/facebook, can’t they make themselves more presentable first? ahahha lol….holy
It’s interesting you brought up “Self-proclaimed.” I once saw an interview where she said she knew that if she went the “beauty route” with her career, she wouldn’t have gotten famous.
Also, I think she took up that nickname to get back at Eric Tsang, who once said, “I’ve never seen a Miss HK who is so not pretty.” (P.S. She’s good friends with Eric.)
🙂
Anita doesn’t wear makeup when she’s not working. She’s always been low maintenance like that.
I think it is a good trait to be low maintenance and that may be one of the reasons Chilam loves Anita so much. She does not seem that demanding and asks for much. I heard they did not even take wedding photos or have any wedding celebration at all. Many women would not be satisfied with that but Anita is.
If she looks that without makeup, she does not look that bad at all. I think we have seen many celebs with no makeup and I don’t think they even look even half as decent as Anita does. We all remember how Miriam looked without it.
@=Shrimpboat,
Haha? Oh yea that was such an incident w/the shorty host? Tell you the truth, i never really watch any of Anita’s stuff and when i did it’s just glimpses here and there esp that one w/3rd brother, she looked so ‘see lai’ in there n i was thinking OMG, so the is the self praising liang liang? haha..LOL….
I mean, i don’t u/s some ppl all these postings on twitter/facebook, make yourself look a bit presentable b4 posting them? I mean most likely they will share it w/others it’s not like they carefully set it as private? haha LOL..keep up the liang liang image girl..haha..
She’s in her 40s, and that’s how most people look without makeup. Your comment just feeds that patriarchal idea that women have to be primped and at all times to be beautiful.
Exactly and I never wear make up so I don’t feel that women always have to put layers of powder and stuff on their face in order to make themselves feel better about themselves.
I think she looks good for her age and considering she has already given birth.
Her skin is good and her eyes are pretty.
We cannot compare artistes with and without makeup.
Chilam does not look that young and handsome in the above photo. He looks close to his actual age. However, he looks awfully handsome when he flirts with girls in his pilot uniforms in TITS 2, showing off his dimples.
Power of makeup 🙂
I thought chilam turned 42? Not 43?
You are right. As per Wikipedia, Chilam was born on 27 August 1971 (age 41).
I meant he will be 42 this month (or 42 as per his lunar birthday).
Chinese age starts counting at time of pregnancy, so you would automatically be a year old when you’re born, so in that sense, Chilam is 43, not 42.
I personally do not count the time when you are still in the stomach since you don’t know or remember anything yet.
Fungfungfan,
The error has been corrected. Thanks!
Ahh… make up does wonders… lolz…
