Raymond Lam Rumored to Leave TVB
Although TVB executives are confident that he will renew his management contract, Raymond Lam (林峯) may have other plans in mind. After losing the TV King title last year despite his massive popularity, Raymond is reportedly unhappy with TVB and has considered leaving when his contract expires early 2014. Deeply in love, Raymond most recently agreed to make a guest appearance in girlfriend Karena Ng’s (吳千語) upcoming Lunar New Year film. He may even take things one step further and join her management company, Raymond Wong Bak Ming’s (黃百鳴) Pegasus Entertainment.
Reporters caught up with Karena at a fashion event on September 11 for more details regarding Raymond’s future plans. Dressed in a casual striped top and black jeans, Karena was in good spirits as she posed with Pakho Chau (周柏豪), her previously-rumored love interest. When asked if working with Pakho would upset Raymond, Karena replied, “I don’t feel awkward working with Pakho Chau, we have known each other for a long time. We were under the same company before. [Raymond] probably doesn’t know [that we are working together]. I don’t have to notify him about my jobs every time. They are good friends and often run into each other at work”.
When asked to address rumors that Raymond is switching companies because of her, Karena said there have been many false news regarding this subject and it is impossible to comment on every single report. When reporters brought up that TVB executive Virginia Lok (樂易玲) was in a rage after Raymond ignored her phone calls to discuss his career decisions, Karena said, “I have not heard about this, but I have a general idea of what this may be about. I feel like it was set up for the sake of a big story, as if someone was hiding under the table and overhears everything. The circumstances are very exaggerated!”
Karena added that she and Raymond like to keep their work and personal matters separate, and that Raymond has far more industry experience and therefore has no need to consider her career advice or opinions. When asked if it is a good idea for Raymond to join her company, Karena said, “It doesn’t affect our work at all. We will not be working together just because of this… the most important consideration is opportunity to expand and develop. I really cannot speak on his behalf regarding his career matters.”
Since Raymond has kept quiet about his ultimate decision, much of the reports are only speculation. Although TVB and Pegasus Entertainment seem to be the two strongest contenders for Raymond’s affections, other reports alleged that Raymond actually has plans to establish his own entertainment company, opting for a more behind-the-scenes role as film producer and talent manager.

Raymond Lam isn’t arrogant. He is friendly. He has known I came to see Ron Ng but he treated every Ron Ng’s fans very well. Ron Ng treated Raymond Lam’s fans fairly too. I saw Raymond Lam and Ron Ng went to talk with Kenneth Ma few lines when Kenneth Ma stayed alone. They enlightened Kenneth Ma who was cold.
Cold or shy? Kenneth doesn’t give me the impression he is all there, not the smartest guy in the room. But cold? I don’t think so. He may be as good as bending the Pr to his will like Raymond who is seasoned (after all he IS a singer, performer, entertainer and Kenneth is an actor).

I think Raymond Lam should have given a chance to win TV King award last year. First, he is very popular in Hong Kong with a large fan base, and he seemed to do well in “Highs and Lows”. Secondly, Wayne Lai had already won TV King awards two years in a row, and he did not act well in “The Confidant”. Don’t understand why he could win it the 3rd time. I think TVB should have given chances to other actors. Therefore, I can understand why Raymond Lam was upset about the results.

I’m probably part of the minority who doesn’t enjoy watching Wayne, I mean honestly ever since his character in Rosy Business debuted he has been playing the same righteous and courageous characters, what else is new? It’s like he is playing the same characters over and over again and the difference is he gets a new profession in each series. Wayne=typecast, which is probably one of the worst things that can happen to an actor’s career which I don’t think he realizes.
Power was definitely the highlight of the series.
I like Wayne Lai in certain characters like Chai Gou in “Rosy Business” and Lai Sing in “No Regrets”, but not anything after. He is surely not good in romance.
I didn’t like his character in neither of those series which I know most people would disagree. I can’t stand how he’s yelling every 29 seconds of the series. I’m just not a fan of dramatic heavyweight productions RB and MR and nor do I agree with values they perceive as righteous.
Wayne Lai’s specialty is yelling every 29 seconds! If you don’t like to hear his yelling, watch “Forensic Heroes 3” and “The Confidant”. I don’t think he yelled much in those 2 drama series. He also yelled a lot in “Bullet Brain”.
It’s not about yelling, it’s his repetitive roles that gets to me. I don’t think the yelling parts are his specialty but the older generation seems to love it. It’s just obnoxious to see a man who can’t express his own feelings without resorting to exploding and aggressive words. I wasn’t impressed by him in FH3 nor The Confidant, those two characters contradict with each other. He has no new approach when it comes to expressing his character’s thoughts, which is visibly noticeable.

Sunny Chan did not yell as loud as Wayne Lai though. Otherwise he should have won 4 TV King awards. Wayne has already won 3 TV King awards in 3 consecutive years.

Well, if Wayne Lai had Chilam’s handsome face and built, he should have been a super star in his prime age (20’s to 30’s). Unfortunately, he doesn’t, and he is restricted to act certain characters.
I really like Wayne when he was in supporting roles. He was the best then. I don’t think leading roles suit him, his most recent roles were all pretty bad. I think he’s limited by his looks & he lacks a certain leading man’s charisma. And over acting don’t help either, hated it when actors needed to shout!

Nah Raymond wouldn’t win for tvb king I thought Michael Miu did a better job then him and also thought Michael Miu was main lead. But for Wayne he shouldn’t have won he has a manly/loud voice which dont fit for his character there. I was hoping and thinking that Michael Miu wins tvb king or Kenneth Ma for oncall36.

Taking turns of getting an award is stupid, who ever does that. Why don’t tvb just write a list of people of who gets the awards on 2013,2014…etc. Awards are for actors/ actresses who have acted well in that year(not the looks nor the popularity, but their acting). Wayne definitely deserves his tv king title.
I don’t think this is true because if he does decide to leave, it has to be after he finishes the drama 只爭朝夕 with Tony Leung (which is supposedly to begin filming on Jan 2014) and Raymond did say that he was excited to work with his idol Tony Ka-Fei Leung but he wasn’t sure since it wasn’t confirmed… And would Raymond Lam let go of his opportunity to film with his idol is another matter..
And I do not expect Raymond Lam to be with TVB forever since he did mention that at some point of his life, he needs to take care of his father’s business.
Tony Leung Ka Fai has not confirmed officially to act in TVB’s drama series. He only said he would do it if time allows.
Raymond also not confirmed anything, he said he heard about the project but his schedule is packed so he’s not confirmed anything at all.
LF has never said himself that he is excited or else for that, but in a recent interview he said tat he is offered such series but he is still considering. He mentioned that he will look for script before deciding.
So excited is only reporter’s words, not from himself.

I don’t understand the hate on this guy, he’s one of the few younger actors that can actually act in TVB, also the only successful one who became a singer. He already mentioned before he will not leave yet and they are already in negotiations for the contract and all they need now is a signature which probably is done with already.

Actually I think Raymond Lam can act better if he does not care too much about his chok image. I liked him when he was new acting with Lawrence Ng in “A Taste of Love” in 2001.

I don’t think he cares too much and besides I think he is sick of that term. In recent years he acted in fairly well like in Highs & Lows. He is one of the few naturally talented ones who started off pretty solid adn remain that way like Bosco, Nancy and Mandy for example.

I met him behind the stage when he came to atlantic city with the MR cast I.e. linda, louise and ha yu.
But during the show, the audience was so crazy, the security guards wouldnt let anyone near him.. apparently he wanted to walk down the aisle and give handshakes… but he informed everyone “I want to come down or get a bit closer but these guards wont let me!”
And one would think security was enough to hold down a raging fleet of fan girls from every direction… lol. He has a solid fan base alright.
Raymond Lam seems to be very humble and friendly in his interviews and among his colleagues. Probably his popularity hinders his further success in acting.

^ Yeah, I think that gaining and losing fans can apply to any artiste. When Raymond Lam came out with Chok during that year, I didn’t really like Chok or some of his other songs. It was only when he released his newer albums, that’s when I started listening to his music again.. :/

If there is one good, I will name Li Sheng Cheung. Btw luckily you dun list the lead =)). I hated the song You always on my mind after Ma Ming sang it with his English. It sounds broken.

He’s been rumored to leave TVB for a while now, but he’s still with them, lol He’s on a per-series contract right? Don’t see why he’ll cut ties with TVB when he has so much freedom.
I think he’s on a one series per year contract and gets to choose his scripts.

I never saw Raymond as good looking so if he had plastic surgery it didn’t help at all. The only thing it did was age him faster.
Also, Maybe TVB didn’t give him TV king at that time because they knew for sure he would leave. From what I seen on the news lately, Raymond’s head is in the Karena clouds so I doubt even TVB know what his next move is.

Raymond Lam has a better career in Mainland. I’m impressed with him in his newest series 紫钗奇缘. He is amazing. I think he has his best without acting in TVB series.
I have been seen Raymond Lam. He wasn’t photogenic. He looked very handsome however the pictures didn’t carry his handsomeness. He was friendly to everyone.

Agree. I like his acting in the Purple Hairpin too. Much better and more natural than his recent tvb series Man with no Shadow, Three Kindoms, and even HAL.
I’ve also seen him in real life, he definitely looks better than on screen.
I’m currently watching The Purple Hairpin as well, Raymond is giving a pretty good performance. Michelle, on the other hand, needs to mature a bit, maybe when the series progresses further.

Raymond is a pretty decent actor and can sing too. He is not bad looking and has a charismatic presence. I agree he has a strong fan base, but a lot of the women can get very crazy.
They need to start teaching a psychology course to fans of Asian idols, informing them not to be a loser, not to kill or hurt themselves or others when these idols date someone, which a 110% will not be any of them.
Raymond has always been generous and down to earth with his fans, anyone who says otherwise is a nasty hateful pitbull, or a pathetic delusional in love with Ray female. No need to lie on the man.

LF was really nice. I went to his concert in Sydney and we were very lucky as he came down to greet his fans, shook hands and he did this many times throughout the night. The security told him not to but he still did it. You dont see that much as I’ve been to many HK concerts in Syd eg. Andy Lau, Sammi, Jacky cheung, Aaron Kwok and none of them but LF was willing to do that. So I do believe that he LF is friendly and nice. Very geniune guy so cut the slack He needs a better role to be able to win TVB king title and he isnt getting one as perhaps his already typecast. Plus TVB series is going downhill so he should leave and develop elsewhere or stick to just one series per yr.
RL isgood to his fans, yes I will give him that. No airs, no pompous attitude. I gotta disagree with you about Jackie Cheung and Andy Lau. Like them or not, these two men are also hands on. (No pun intended) with their fans. I remember being in HK several years ago when Andy had a contour tour and the fans scratched his hands so badly from the hand shaking that his hands looked nasty. Man needed medical attention. Jackie is also super with physical contact with his fans during concerts.

see what i mean? connections get you everywhere. Virginia and RL’s father sound like buddies, so giving him a leg up in this biz is no surprise, even tho his supporters naturally deny this. If he had been an ordinary joe, i think his career path wldn’t have proceeded half as smoothly.
agree or not , 620 definately need LF to grab income surplus for tvb . he is a definately money making machine
i am Raymond’s fan…I agree that Raymond has connection, relationship, background that help him in some way…However, he is talent, work hard, nice to people in order to successful. If he can’t make help TVB to make money…620 would not use him neither!

LF can sign for another two years where he sings for tvb series without acting in it. He can concentrate music & movies
