Dayo Wong and Dodo Cheng to Host Entrepreneurship Reality Show
TVB’s favorite comedy duo Dayo Wong (黃子華) and Carol Cheng (鄭裕玲) will reunite as hosts for an upcoming reality series.
Last September, viewers were treated to the exciting news of Dayo’s TVB comeback and a possible sequel to 2000’s popular situation comedy War of the Genders <男親女愛>. While Dayo hopped quickly on board, Dodo ultimately declined participation in the project, citing health reasons and saying that she no longer wishes to film drama series. Dayo later partnered up with Kate Tsui (徐子珊) to star in the modern comedy My Prime Lady <My盛Lady>.
Although the two are unable to collaborate in a drama, Dayo and Dodo may work together once again as hosts. TVB plans to recruit the two TV veterans to lead a reality show based on the theme of entrepreneurship. Similar in concept to Japanese reality contest Dragons’ Den and its American counterpart Shark Tank, TVB’s version will focus on this generation’s young dreamers. The show’s contestants will each pitch their business ideas to Dayo and Dodo, as well as to a panel of professionals that will include Eric Tsang (曾志偉). The best pitches will win sponsorship and investment money. The winners will also be mentored by a team of elites from the financial and real estate industries.
Reporters reached out to TVB executive Sandy Yue (余詠珊) on September 30 regarding the news. Ms. Yue confirmed that TVB has plans to produce the show, and that she will do her best to make it come true. “We are currently working hard to book Dayo. I also want to see the Golden Team reunite!” When asked if TVB is willing to give Dayo a raise to attract him to the project, Ms. Yue said that the company will do so without hesitation. She also offered her thoughts on why Dayo and Dodo are the right fit for the project. “They really are very suitable. They are clever and insightful. Having them host this show creates no risk at all.”

As much as I love Dayo and Dodo partnering up, I can’t trust TVB to do a good job with this show. It already sounds like a mess on paper and I’d rather not see Eric insult contestants.
You have your crystal ball working overtime? Otherwise how can you predict it’s going to be a bad show? By the way please enlighten me the meaning of “sounds like a mess on paper”, I have scratched my poor brain for clues…
i think if they are going to copy Dragon’s Den (Canadian version) and make it into their own style, please have some professional judges, not celebrity judges (unless they have businesses themselves).
Even if it sound bad on paper, I think its a good idea to air this type of show. Give the young entrepreneur a chance to pitch their ideas and possibly gain some investors. Shark Tank has some good ideas that were rejected but their brand/product skyrocketed after they were aired.
Although some of you may hate Eric Tsang for his potty mouth, that dude is a pretty wise investor and the young lads can benefit from someone like Eric.
Given the content of articles re Eric Tsang during the past year, I guess he can teach how to get really drunk and behave badly or pass out.
Do you have any idea how much Eric is worth? Now he’s no Stanley Ho or Bill Gates, but given his background and upbringing, I’d say he’s a pretty wise investor.
I’m not sure how being drunk or behaving badly has anything to do with being a wise investor. Being wise is working smart, not behaving well in front of the media. I’m surprised you are so believing with the media especially given how they love to blow things out of proportion – especially the HK media.
@WildBerries: Well-said! At the very least, Eric worked his way to the top with his bare hands rather than being born into a rich family and endowed with tons of money (he started off as a stuntman — which is where he ‘adopted’ alot of his bad habits from — and eventually worked his way up, taking on practically every single position that was available in the film and television world). And like you said, given his background and upbringing, for him to get to where he’s at today definitely wasn’t easy.
Sure, Eric has his flaws and even though I like him well enough as a person, I also don’t appreciate some of his antics or the ‘crap’ that comes out of his mouth sometimes….but all that aside, just because he has some bad habits and flaws doesn’t mean he’s not a wise investor or doesn’t deserve to be where he is at today. I may not approve of his behavior most of the time, but at the end of the day, I have a certain amount of respect for Eric for all the contributions he has made to the entertainment industry as well as to society.
That’s good…. Having Eric on the show is awesome to watch. Can’t wait to watch.
