Kenneth Ma is a Ladies’ Man

Kenneth Ma (馬國明) has recently become the victim of his own magnetic appeal as he tried to dodge the attention of his female co-stars.

Currently in China filming the Jackie Chan (成龍)-produced romantic comedy Fate is a Game <緣來是遊戲>, Kenneth is allegedly very popular among the mainland actresses. Many of them exchanged phone numbers with Kenneth and repeatedly asked him out for dinner dates. Heeding his manager’s advice, Kenneth turned down the ladies’ offers and kept his distance. A source revealed, “Kenneth only gave them his Hong Kong phone number…they can only contact him by paying for SMS.”

One of the more aggressive women is Colleen Chan (雨書), a thirty-three-year-old Hong Kong actress and daughter of the film’s director Frankie Chan (陳勳奇). Colleen reportedly tried to get close to Kenneth any chance she could get. She was often seen flirting with Kenneth and leaned closely at every photo op. Despite her persistence, Kenneth seems unmoved by Colleen’s tactics and remained a proper gentleman.

In Fate is a Game, Kenneth plays a charismatic lawyer who must juggle his romances with six flight attendants. Despite being surrounded by so many beauties, Kenneth is actually more excited about the opportunity to make his very first movie. Responding to the alleged on-set flirtation, Kenneth said that he is focusing on his blossoming career and is not too worried about his relationship status.

Hand-picked by Jackie Chan to star, Kenneth was given special attention to groom him into the next big movie star. As one of the few TVB first-line artists who has yet to break into the mainland market, this film will surely open up many more opportunities. Although he is still inexperienced in the film industry, Kenneth’s strong work ethics and good looks will likely carry him far.

  1. Is it an obligatory thing to have Kenneth Ma as ladies man sort of article like at least once every month? Excited as I am with his movie career which I feel will be DOA (sorry but I don’t see him as a movie actor), I am sorta bored with reading such articles.

    1. I am a big fan of kenneth, but I’ll admit I can’t see him as a movie actor o_o” I mean in terms of being a movie actor in HK, he’s better off being a television actor because I do think that TV does a lot better than HK movies and the audience grows to be more familar with an actor and their progress. If he does want to venture off into the film industry, it wouldnt be a bad thing since every experience is a good learning curve and improvement opportunities. But he doesn’t really have the ‘movie actor’ image when he walks out- not yet at least lol.

And in regards to his popularity amongst mainland actresses-I wouldnt get too close and comfy, afterall, there have been many siu sungs who pose as good examples of what could happen. He may end up experiencing quite a bumpy rollercoaster ride lol… o_o
But i’m happy he got his wish in having more opportunities to part take in mainland productions and working with other artists’ outside of TBB and HK. It’s one of the best if not the best way an artist can improve and nurture their own acting skills by learning from different actors, and not just the same old same old.

      1. Maybe he will have a China gf/wife soon likemost of his colleagues. If the * are big and fake, I will have a good laugh to some of his fans who praised him like Virgin god who dun like hot women and perhaps, I will consider to use the word “Karma” in suitable situations.

Regardless Ma Ming but TV actor in HK audience’s mind is less “star” than movie actor. In other word, TV actor has less honor than movie actor yet the fame. A quote: S/he is just a TV actor/actress.

      2. I thought kenneth only like online * & dating maggie tsang.he is a weirdo

      3. LOL @Fox “..praised him like Virgin god who dun like hot women ..”. I’ll admit that I am a fan of Kenneth, but have never thought of him as some Virgin god like other fans have. I mean he even did openly admit himself he likes to watch online porn, thinks about sex etc. He is a guy afterall. He aint no perfect saint. But I respect that he’s a hardworking person and really is a family guy and makes the effort to take care of them.

And you make a good point, TV actors do tend to be less ‘star’ as you put it. But I find that movie actors are not as ‘in house’ than say tv stars if you know what I mean. In kenneth’s case, I dont think he’ll ‘survive’ in the film industry with his acting style and image. But in saying all of this, I dont think TV is any less or any big than film. I think for HK, it all depends on the actor for his/her success, some actors better suit film than TV or vice versa. Like Kate imo- I think she does better in film than in television tbh.

    2. This movie definately flop because frankie chan who directs the amazons starring cecelie chung is box office bomb & flop.concentrate tv rather than movie, kenneth

      1. I dont it’s such a bad thing for him to experience filming for movies. It’s good to have different experiences from various forms of entertainment production. I doubt he’d only focus on film in the future anyway even if he had the chance. He seems to like the platform/stage that tv series gives to him.

  2. I’m thinking how big Love is Fate is. Its main lead is a Chinese actor tat takes part in tons of gameshows (such as 3 seasons of Similar faces). It means he is very… free. The female leads are nothing better. The director isnt famous. Look like it is riding on Jackie Chan’s investment to get attention. Its only way.

Face is too pinkie castle” toward

    1. You do have a point, but then I suppose everything has to start off somewhere. With a director who isn’t as famous as so and so director and having leads who are not that of a big name would not necessarily mean the film is definitely going to die in the market or wouldnt make any noise at all imo.

The film might not make it big and benefit the entire production team or what not, but i’m sure there would be people who’d anticipate and watch, and directors who’d notice the performances. It’d be a good opportunity for Kenneth to be more recognised and known in a bigger market at least. Directors and producers are always casting their eyes out for performances whenever the time comes to casting actors to play particular roles.

      1. Being a supporting in a movie, especially light-hearted romantic movie is already small of an opportunity, not to mention the director and cast. The movie will definitely ride on Jackie Chan to promote and it means, lesser chance as the promotion shall be in order: Jackie > the male lead > male supporting

Good luck to Ma Ming although I think he will provide another bad performance since his chac is a Casanova. He failed as player in either MOL or TITS2. Maybe if the chac like to pout, he will do well.

Borrowing a quote of Funn Lim: its time for Ma Ming fans to run to cinema to watch 40 times or more for him to find bigger market. Who noe it can help him to have leading role.

The HK media made like the movie is supposed to be big before it started and then, silent after the cast is revealed. China media dun seem to have noises. Good PR club in HK of Ma Ming, it can help him.

Btw, the movie’s male lead is still quite free, lolz. I saw him in Similar face again while the filming is on. Who have an idea who is the female lead?

  3. Give Kenneth a chance on the big screen…I think he will do well especially in China when he is a relative newcomer and a fresh face with scruples.

  4. His acting skill is excellent. Be it the baddies or good guy next door, Kenneth can portray both well. Thumbs up for him 🙂

  5. I never got the hype about this guy, he has no charisma on screen he just looks bored most of the time kind of like in Kevin’s situation. I get that his role as the doctor sparked lots of attention but honestly I don’t think it was his acting that got him so much attention but rather the character’s personality which I think any actor could of played him and get the same reaction but hey that’s just me. He did well in that series with Steven which I thought his performance was underrated just like the series.

    1. KC did the villain roles well in his old Taiwanese series. Even better than any roles he did for Txb.

For Ma Ming, I think he can do roles similar to his personality, but out of his safe zone he will fail. Actually his supporting time is way better than now. He changed, and now very monotone with facial expressions. In SSSS, the scene he scold Rebecca Zhu, I dun noe who is worse, Rebecca in her first series with wooden face or Ma Ming in 13th years of acting with pouting face. Seriously, in recent years, Ma Ming is pouting too much. Last year I watched 3 of his series(partly), worst is SSSS. This year, TITS2 made me cringe at his acting.

      1. His worst role last year was in 3K, it was just horrible. He’s just too awkward to watch on screen, he tries too hard that’s what I think. He just gives me an impression that he’s not comfortable on screen at all.

I don’t have much of a problem with Kevin, it’s just that he looks bored most of the time and is making similar expressions throughout his series.

      2. I thought 3K is bad enough, but in fact SSSS worse. In SSSS, he has limited facial expressions, mostly pout. And in TITS2, like he has no idea what he is doing and just make it to finish the job. No enthusiasm, no energy.

For KC, maybe his Txb ones are boring?

      3. I hardly even noticed Kenneth in SSSS, that’s justs shows how irrevelant his character was in that series.

I liked him in Split Second and Gloves Comes Off but anything else is just alright. I haven’t watched any of his mainland series but I heard he did pretty bad in IP Man as well.

  6. I feel bad for the guy. He will never grow as an actor if he keeps getting the same crap characters.
Charming ladies man, immature 20/30 something, nice guy with romance issues, etc.
He needs some serious acting or he will end up a jobless 40/50 year old who can only act like a 30 something kid.
I don’t think audiences will continue to go for that, and age wouldn’t allow for leading action man roles anymore.

I wish he would stand up and say no to all these repetitive roles. He has the face for a leading man, but his voice and acting credits won’t allow for it. – No experience. Just TVB playboy roles.

Give him a serious and dark role and see what he can do. I bet he would surprise a lot of people. There are hints of it in Tiger Cubs and Sentinel. He’s just not allowed to develop it at all. – Mostly due to how his character was written and screen time.

  7. Acting ability is in the eyes of the beholder. Ruco Chan is a one dimensional actor as well.

    1. That is only your opinion and doesn’t represent the majority.

  8. All the ladies want him, but I can imagine Kenneth being scared of all of them. haha

  9. The more they want him to be the ladies man, the more older he looks.

  10. The constant promotion of him being a ladies’ man is getting annoying !!!
I can see him in villain roles, he ‘s got the looks & height, besides it’s easier.

  11. To each his own.. I am starting to like his acting. Looking fwd to watch the movie!
