Producer Poon Ka Tak Reveals Spoilers For “The Hippocratic Crush 2”
Labeled as one of this year’s TVB anniversary series, The Hippocratic Crush 2 <On Call 36小時II> hopes to catch greater audience attention than its successful first installment. The drama will be broadcast in Hong Kong and relative overseas countries starting Monday, November 4. Producer of the drama, Poon Ka Tak (潘嘉德), shared intriguing spoilers regarding the drama’s continuous plot developments, which consists of many tragic moments.
Kenneth Ma’s Character Develops Anxiety
The sequel will continue with Cheung Yat Kin (Kenneth Ma 馬國明) and Fan Tze Yu’s (Tavia Yeung 楊怡) loving relationship as a married couple. Tze Yu becomes pregnant and Yat Kin worries for her health, since she still suffers from her intramedullary spinal cord tumor. Nonetheless, Tze Yu tells her husband to relax and have some fun instead of directing all his energy on her. Loving his wife tremendously and unable to rid himself of all the pressure, Yat Kin eventually develops severe anxiety.
Nearing the final episode, Yat Kin is tragically hit by a car. He suffers from serious head and heart damage, requiring immediate surgery carried out by Dr. Lok Man Sang (Lawrence Ng 吳啟華) and Tze Yu.
Lawrence Ng’s Character Suffers From Cancer
Pathology specialist, Dr. Lok Man Sang, is also a long-term sufferer of cancer. Having witnessed tragic events throughout life, including the death of his parents and wife, he remains indifferent about his illness and only takes medicine to maintain control. After gradually falling in love with Heung Chin Yi (Tracy Chu 朱千雪), Dr. Lok finally decides to properly heal his illness under her influence.
Producer Poon revealed he decided to cast Tracy, because Lawrence’s character needs to be paired up with someone. It is a bad idea to add a third party into Yat Kin and Tze Yu’s relationship, since the couple had experienced a lot of hardship in order to end up together. Furthermore, fans would surely protest against the idea of having their favorite couple separated. Casting Tracy alongside Lawrence was therefore a good option. “I always like it when veterans collaborate with the new people,” Producer Poon explained. He made sure Tracy dropped her pretty Miss Hong Kong image to portray a simple-looking woman.
Dr. Lok faces much turmoil, including his rivalry with Yat Kin and strained relationship with younger sister-in-law, Suen Man Yuet (Louisa So 蘇玉華 ). Man Yuet despises Dr. Lok for his irresponsibility, because he did not hold a funeral for her sister and chose to vanish instead, leaving his daughter behind as well.
Death of Eliza Sam’s Character
Che Hiu Tung (Eliza Sam 岑麗香), is a friendly and outgoing social worker who loves to help others. She falls in love with Yeung Pui Chung (Him Law 羅仲謙), but eventually dies from glioma. Producer Poon shared, “Eliza’s death scene made me cry uncontrollably each time I watched it. Him’s crying was so sad and desolate.”

I thought he was playing Ching Zee Mei. I guess I’m not even gonna watch this crapfest now.
Funny enough that most of the female character will be optimist such as will most of the male character will be pessimist. Hope the sequel will continue conveying positive and meaningful message jut like prequel.
I hope it doesn’t disappoints like TITS2. At least, they didn’t kill of a character and introduce a doppelgänger.
TITS2 is also really boring imo. Can’t watch few episodes consecutively without falling asleep.

The autism part is likely not an apt description of Lawrence’s character. It is closer to indifference in which he bottled feelings towards others.
Jayne perhaps change the word autism to anti social? Because for a moment I thought this series may copy from thee kdrama good doctor but of course both series are different.
yeh wth…. do you even know what autism is? it will be hard to function as a senior doctor if you are autistic you know.

The part where Kenneth gets hit by a car in the ending sounds overly dramatic, especially since we know he will survive the surgery.
Basically all the main characters will face situations in which their health is threatened and on the brink of death, they will learn lessons about those that they love.
Jayne kinda unnecessary because series one is all about that sort of lesson. I suppose that is a jinxed hospital;such a high injury rate for the doctors.
Spoiler: Everybody dies and has a BBQ in heaven.
If they all die, I wonder if they will make another series about them ending up in either heaven or hell or reincarnating into a new person in a new life??? That would be interesting…

I can’t watch to see Eliza and Him’s pairing, also Mandy and Benjamin’s pairing. Not too fond of Tavia and Kenneth sadly.

I guess this series is aiming for Him to get that award this year, he’s a decent actor better than some at the company but hasn’t been given much complex characters for him to show that ability.
I don’t know why the producer is revealing spoilers like this, whatever happens to this watching the series and find out as they go but it’s nothing surprising a few deaths is necessary in dramas especially with a theme like THC 2 or at least that’s a trend within their series anyways.

What happened to Candy’s character? I was actually hoping for her relationship with Him to continue from part 1.
Candy was found in a car with drugs, and there was this whole police thing too. So she got frozen by tvb and Eliza took her place
If most of the main actors/actresses in this series all will be sick then I may not interested to watch this drama; I am scared of feeling down because of those sad scenes.
i think Him’s character is a bit more complex and deep this time around but i don’t think he will win any major awards because those bits won’t air in time

Some sensible difference for this TVB sequel because one half of the main couple will not be killed off and there will be no third party.
lol thanks for all the spoilers. Hope it doesnt disappoint. On a side note, I am glad a producer finally realizes that adding in a third party into a relationship, creating a stupid love triangle, is pointless and tasteless.
as much as I like TVB medical series, I can’t help but wonder about the myriads of illness that the characters n their loved ones suffer. Almost like its a jinx to be the family member or love interest of the characters. And the many death of characters as wel… haiz.. but i still watch n I still like watching it! power of strong cast n veterens!

Kenneth better not die, or I seriously WILL lose faith in TVB on my end!! I want Yut Kin (Kenneth) and Tze Yu (Tavia) to be happy together in the end!! That’s not much of a spoiler, considering I already seen that on the Promo vid..(._.) now I can’t stop worrying about Kenneth, I believe he will survive, but I want to see a him HAPPY/Alive with Tavia for the series II conclusion… 🙁
