Carina Lau Thought About Suicide After Triad Abduction
In her interview on TVB’s Telling Maria 2 <最佳女主角> last week, Carina Lau (劉嘉玲) candidly chatted about her traumatic abduction experience that occurred in April 1990. After turning down the offer to star in Set Me Free <我要逃亡>, a movie that the triads were involved in, Carina was kidnapped for several hours by four triad members and was photographed naked. Her nude photos were leaked and published on the cover of a now-defunct magazine in 2002.
In an earlier interview, Carina’s husband Tony Leung Chiu Wai (梁朝偉) mentioned that he was afraid Carina would contemplate suicide. At the grand opening ceremony of her new home décor store with Sir David Tang (鄧永鏘) yesterday, Carina admitted that she had thought about ending her life.
“I’ve thought about it, but I didn’t know how, so I just thought about disappearing. I was young then and I went through it two times. I am thankful for [the abduction] because it made me a much stronger person. Through this incident, I hope I would be able to let others know that everything is possible to overcome.”
Asked if she felt uncomfortable having to speak about the incident again, Carina laughed, “I got over it, it’s just that [the media] hasn’t!”
Tony Leung and Carina’s good friend, Kate Moss, was also at the store’s grand opening event. Investing over $10 million HKD on the business, Carina said she believes in David’s dream and is looking forward to see the store open in England and mainland China. There are also plans for the store to be a listed company.
Faye Wong Moving to Hong Kong?
After her divorce with husband of eight years Li Yapeng (李亚鹏), there were rumors claiming that Faye Wong (王菲) plans to stay permanently in Hong Kong. Carina clarified she and Faye had invested on a lot of property in Hong Kong together even before Faye’s divorce.
Asked if Faye is determined to stay in Hong Kong, Carina said, “Faye always comes to Hong Kong anyways to shop. Hong Kong is a shopper’s paradise.” Carina did, however, said that if Faye invites her to her housewarming party, she will gift Faye with a customized overcoat.

he doesn’t looks good at all. especially when standing next to carina.
At least he is natural and does do PS and does not always feel he needs to dress up. You should see Carina without her expensive packaging. I think she looks even older than Tony. She usually is all made up which is why she seems to look younger than Tony. He is 50+ so I think he looks fine without all if the artificial stuff.

agree with HeTieShou. We girls are lucky to have makeup so we could look better. Guys nope, except some guys have plastic surgeries like raymond lam, and more.
I know women have PS too but I meant for natural people at least women have makeup to make them look better.
Some guys wear make up as well, especially actors and singers. But Tony does not do so outside of working hours and is very laid back and natural in his appearance. I actually really admire that about him. He has much more than just looks.
And it seems she is almost as tall as he is.

She is probably wearing 6-7 inches heels. All the actresses wear high heels. I think she is about 5 feet or 5’1 and he is about 5’7 or 5’8.
He looks fine to me. He is a guy and he did not need Botox like most actresses and some actors.
Carina Lau should be more than 5’1″. I think she is more like 5’3″ or 5’4″. Tony Leung should be 5’7″ or 5’8″ the most.
Carina is listed as 5ft 6 but idk. I’m sure she’s taller than 5ft 3 though.

Tony Leung will not be taller than 5’9″. With Carina’s 5+ inch heels, she is the same height as Tony Leung. How can she be 5’6″ unless Tony Leung is 5’11” or 6′?
many of the Chinese actresses from HK, Taiwan and China seem taller or are the same height as the actors.
Tony Leung is definitely taller than Carina Lau. Click on the link provided above, and you will see that Carina is wearing a pair of 4+” high-heeled shoes.
So probably she is 5’3 and wearing a 4-5 inches heels and that would make him about 5’7 or 5’8 🙂
Tony and Carina aren’t good friends with Kate Moss, she was invited by David Tang.
Tony mentioned shaving his head after finishing the Grandmaster cause it was refreshing for him. He had to keep the same style for years while he was filming the movie. =P

How do a person overcome something like that. How can someone thankful for rape. Decade ago I viewed the horrible video. So long ago already and why we still talk about her rape. We all are selfish human being.

If a beautiful woman a celebrity is strip naked by 4 dude who belongs to the triad group n nothing happen, it is ****.
I regret watching the video, but the woman’s crying in the video is definitely Carina. She has a very distinctive voice. She was blindfolded, but you can tell it’s her.
Perhaps if she tells herself a million times it didn’t happen, she will believe it didn’t happen.

Maybe Carina wasn’t raped like she said she was but whatever she went through was a terrifying and humiliating ordeal. Then, add in the fact that she’s a high-profile actress. People will definitely talk about it even when she clearly doesn’t want to hear another word about it.

Being abducted is traumatising enough. Being stripped, taken photo, held in fear knowing these pictures may be exposed or if they’re not happy they can always come back to kidnap you again and this time doing something far worse… I have seen people committing suicide for lesser reason.
Well for one, the whole world can see her naked… And not in her free will

3. How did the place where this supposed rape took place look like?
4. The picture where we know she was stripped, did the hair and clothes match the girl in the video?

4. It was very disturbing, but the cries definitely sounded like Carina. The hair style and body shape also matched.
Carina is virtually unknown in Japan. There is no reason for the Japanese to make an AV with someone pretending to be her to capitalize on anything. There is an old ATV drama produced by Wong Jing years ago. In the drama Monica Chan portrayed a character that is “inspired” by Carina Lau in real life. She joins an acting class held by a TV station and later became an actress, dated a fellow colleague that became best actor in movies. She also got kidnapped by triad members. They were even bold enough to include a rape scene where Monica Chan was almost raped. The setting was very similar to the video where the real Carina got raped.
I’m not trying to down play the horrible ordeal that Carina went through, but anyone who’s seen the video will not believe that the person in the video is not her.
Ive seen the clip many years ago..really pity her bcos u can tell its “Her” ..the cries n all is not fake.. Glad dat she manage to overcome the incident! Wish her happiness w tony leong.
