Bosco Wong Relies on Restaurant Business After Retirement from Acting

Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) understands that he can not remain as an actor forever. Choosing to invest in the restaurant industry, Bosco will open an upscale oyster bar in Hong Kong. Food is his passion and Bosco has learned a lot in restaurant operations through this venture.

Before becoming an actor, Bosco thought about becoming a chef. When he was a young boy, he often cooked alongside his mother and grandmother. For his first part-time job, Bosco volunteered to work at his godmother’s food cart for free.

In 2011, Bosco fulfilled his dream by opening his first restaurant in Malaysia, which was later reopened as a bar/lounge. Although the bar generated good results, Bosco decided to withdraw his shares since he is often not in Malaysia.  “The price was okay! Profiting a little is enough.”

Besides taking on a more entrepreneurial route, it was revealed that Bosco is slowly saving up to buy his dream apartment. Wanting his mother to live more comfortably, he would rather spend money on properties rather than for his own hobby of buying cars.

Isolation Is Key to Being Rumor-Free

Losing out on the Best Actor award every year, Bosco headed to mainland China to earn more money. However, afraid of being romantically linked with female stars, he isolated himself from the group after working hours. “Actually, I’m very old fashioned. Every time I have to film in mainland, I would request that the production crew and I stay in different hotels. This ensure peace and quiet and I don’t have to socialize with others.”

Most recently, the 32-year-old actor is being linked with goddess Eliza Sam (岑麗香). However, Bosco reiterates that he only sees her as a lively younger sister. He revealed that has not been in touch with ex-girlfriend Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) but they will greet each other when they see each other. When asked what type of girls he likes, Bosco said, “I like smart and independent girls. I hate clingy ones the most! They can’t have princess syndrome as I can’t stand it!” He added that he is a difficult person to deal with, “I don’t like to be bothered and nagged. I’m very busy and don’t have a lot of time.”

    1. LOL. I share your same thoughts. Maybe it’s just me, but the one thing I find Bosco lacking as an actor is his ability to engage audience with his voice. Most of the time, his dialogue doesn’t come out clear. There’s something about his voice that’s kind of distracting. I

  1. For a second I thought I had missed him announcing his retirement! I find his acting pretty one-note but TVB is low on younger leading actors, so if he sticks with TVB he’ll probably be set for the rest of his life.

  2. I think his acting is pretty strong and subtle but he’s at his best when he is doing maturer characters in LOO and WI. He should stop taking all these immature characters and take more villain roles.

Why is he talking about retirement? He’s too young for that and 30’s – 40’s is the prime time for an actor!

I have to say that he’s not a good boyfriend material though after reading all the articles about his break up last year.

  3. It doesn’t mention anywhere in the article that he is considering retirement from the industry. One of the very few young talented actors with the company, his next villain role in Midas should garner more attention. The thing that’s appealing about him is that he pretty much can play any type of roles given to him which TVb lacks of these days, he’s hardly ever miscast in a role. I can tell he enjoy the villain roles a lot which I admit is his strongest criteria in terms of ability in acting.

  4. It looks like Bosco doesn’t need a girlfriend. He just need his mother.

    1. Being filial to his mother is a his duty and responsibility. I’m glad that he puts his mommy first. It’s a must for all human. Your comment seems to be addressing him as a mommy’s boy. I’m sure you need your mommy too.

  5. It seems that Bosco is smart and could think of his future retirement is good not a bad option. As for his love life…he doesn’t likes girls with bad habits of princess syndrome and clingy actually is normal …most guys hated that too. I could say he is not a difficult person to deal with.

  6. He likes “smart and independent girls” …sigh… he’s describing Myolie !! 🙁

  7. If this what he want then let him be. He hope to move on after his contract is expire.

  8. ME ME ME Lol I fulfill his requirements as a gf LOL pick me, Bosco
    Ahaha

    Nah jkjk only
