Sammi Cheng Returns with “Love is Love” Album
After a four-hiatus from the Cantopop industry, Sammi Cheng (鄭秀文) returned to the scene with the release of her thirty-fifth album Love is Love on December 23, 2013. Through the album, Sammi, who will be marrying longtime boyfriend Andy Hui (許志安) early next year, wants to send a message of love to her fans, expressing that love will naturally come into one’s life as long as faith perseveres.
Sammi has been working on the album since late 2011, when she released “Do Re Mi”, the theme song of Sammi’s romantic drama film Romancing In Thin Air <高海拔之戀II>. In early 2013, Sammi released the album’s second single “Blind Love” <盲愛>, the theme song to the romantic comedy film Blind Detective <盲探>. A duet with Andy Lau (劉德華), “Blind Love” was a triple king topper, peaking at number one on three of Hong Kong’s major music charts.
The lead sing off Love is Love, “Desert Oasis” <荒漠甘泉>, was released on December 11, 2013 to another chart-topping success, peaking at number one on the RTHK charts, number four on 997, and number six on 903. A dance pop track, “Desert Oasis” also maintained its position as the number one song on the Global Chinese Pop Chart for two weeks.

一追再追 (Chase and Chase Again) is the “sequel” to Leslie Cheung’s 追, written and composed by the same people. A song about depression. Can’t wait to get hold of the album.

Sammi is charming to look at. I fell in love with “Desert Oasis”. You can naturally sing along with her during the whole song. “Body Weapon” is also quite catchy.
