Tavia Yeung Will Consider Renewing Contract With TVB

While many speculate that Tavia Yeung (楊怡) may leave TVB to pursue greener pastures, the TV Queen insists that it is still too early to tell and remarked that she will give her home station priority consideration when it comes to signing a management contract.

Despite her TV Queen win in 2012, Tavia has yet to make any further breakthroughs in her acting career. While her fellow first-line artists have been given ample opportunities to participate in films and side projects, Tavia continues to appear only in serial productions and saw little increase in endorsement or event participation.

When her long-time manager Chan Ka Lei (陳嘉莉) submitted her resignation letter in October 2013, the media was suspicious of its timing. Rumors claimed that Ms. Chan had plans to establish her own artist management company and was trying to sign her current team of TVB favorites, Tavia, Moses Chan (陳豪), and Roger Kwok (郭晉安). Both Tavia and Moses’s TVB management contracts are set to expire in 2014, making this situation extra sensitive for everyone involved.

Things took an interesting turn this week when reports claimed that Ms. Chan has retracted her resignation and will remain with TVB. While TVB can now leverage this latest development to lure Tavia to stay, she seems to be in no hurry to finalize her decision. Making steady career progress since her artist training days in 1999, Tavia is grateful for the successes that TVB has given her and will give the company first consideration when it comes to contract renewal.

Even though she is pleased with her growth so far, Tavia is still looking forward to new challenges. She hopes to eventually branch out from acting and explore different opportunities. While many TVB artists are seeking work in the lucrative Mainland market, Tavia seems satisfied to stay at home to be closer to her family. “I hope to put some time aside to work on other things. I don’t want to completely immerse myself into the Mainland market. I also want to take care of my mother who lives here in Hong Kong.”

  1. I hope she will renew her contract because I’ll really miss seeing her in TVB dramas if she leaves. Tavia=TVB

  2. I think Tavia will end up renewing but it just looks like they’re working out some more favorable terms before she says anything for sure. I think Moses already renewed?

    1. Rumor has it that Moses renewed so Aimee can secure her status when she comes back.

Tavia will probably renew, but she wants more chances to film Mainland series.

      1. Most likely she will change her contract terms to be more flexible to shoot for Mainland series. Highly doubt she will be leaving tvb anytime soon! I’m glad she’s planning to head for new directions, it’s about time since she’s been filming for tvb ever since acting classes and after winning Best Actress, she should look for new experiences 🙂

      2. @HTS: She CAN, but will TVB let her? TVB restricts their artists from filming outside, and that’s what Tavia wants. She’s a top fadan at TVB and already won BA. Right now, she just wants to challenge her acting and make extra $. I’ve been reading the same thing from her lately. I guess we’ll find out soon.

      3. @Hannah,
True, but if they want to keep her and have her renew her contract then need to give her more freedom to film elsewhere. She may have different contract terms if she does consider renewing her contract.

  3. Tavia is overworked. I do want tavia to renew but with better terms and opportunities. I love seeing her onscreen, however it would be great if she was able to branch out.

Wish tavia all the best :)!

  4. Still love to see TVB dramas with TY inside. Hope to see Kenneth & TY collaborate again. Their on screen chemistry are the best. 🙂

  5. Please don’t go. The current new female leads are still too bad and boring and I don’t see how they can improve

  6. May I know what option does she have? She’s not even popular outside TVB. I wonder if China would want her as well. I’m getting bored of seeing her. TVB please bring in more new people who can speak decent Cantonese.

    1. She already filmed in China so may have connections. They keep on using her since there is no one else or something.

    2. +10000 hi 10 to me… i so bored at that woman… chian pls take her 4ever out of my sight

    3. Tavia is not popular outside tvb? She just won most popular tvb actress in China. This award speaks highly for Tavia cos she has only filmed one drama in Mainland some years back and she won this award for 2013. Defeating Charmaine Sheh who has more mainland dramas. TY is most popular tvb actress winning in Singapore, Malaysia, HK and China, which other actress has won in so many countries. She’s the best. Tvb shd value her faithful service since 1999 and give her room to pursue more opportunities and move to higher grounds.

      1. Wasn’t that China award sent by Txb? Lolz, not by a China company or Chinese but by Txb. Same to all other Singapore, Malaysia.

Charmaine won China awards for actress years ago. The real China awards sent by Chinese.

      2. Fyi, all these awards in various countries were all voted by Fans, not controlled by tvb. Check yr facts. To be able to win fans support in 4 countries consecutively…who else but Tavia.

      3. Recent year we have Myolie. Beforehand, we have Charmaine. And they both won more. Maybe you should check your facts, too.

The Chinese gets nothing to do to tat Txb china award. And Astro+StarHub merely means Txb’s pork dividing. Uhm, Astro even turns Txb Msia award now.

If wanna show China award, let’s talk about the ones given by Chinese. There are many a years but not many Txb actresses get one.

  7. She should leave just because I want to see new generation artistes get promoted! Myolie, Linda and Kate can leave too!

  8. I actually hope Tavia won’t renew her contract. She is not young anymore, and I encourage her to have a baby (with Mr Muscles :D) soon.
