Edwin Siu and Kristal Tin’s Bad Impressions of Each Other
Although they are now a pair of easygoing friends, Edwin Siu (蕭正楠) and Kristal Tin (田蕊妮) revealed their poor initial impressions of each other. Edwin and Kristal’s attitudes did not warm up until a few weeks of filming Brother’s Keeper <巨輪>, which was their first series together.
When Edwin first met Kristal, he admitted she looked like someone who is tough and difficult to deal with. Her blunt and talkative manner appeared slightly offensive and intimidating to him. Afraid to talk to Kristal, Edwin avoided her whenever possible and chatted freely with other members of the cast and crew instead. “I didn’t even greet her when I saw her!” Edwin revealed, “It wasn’t until later that I realized she is actually very gentle.”
During the first week of filming, Edwin appeared strange and distant from Kristal at all times. Once the camera stopped rolling, he slacked in a corner and spent time studying the script or playing on his phone. Seemingly antisocial, Kristal remained skeptical about sparking chemistry with him in their drama. She exclaimed, “He talked to everyone but me! I was actually a bit upset!”
When Kristal finally learned Edwin was only afraid of her tough look, she took the initiative to approach him and start conversations. The storyline of Brother’s Keeper also worked in their favor. Their characters gradually developed a liking for each other, which steered their off-screen relationship in a positive direction as well. Soon after, the two opened up and behaved like old friends, laughing loudly at outtakes and sharing jokes.
Kristal revealed that Edwin actually possesses a comedic nature behind his quiet barrier. Oftentimes on set, he recalled hilarious memories and evoked laughter from everyone. She added Edwin is a professional and focused actor with much charisma. Unlike others, he does not care about looking model-perfect in front of the camera. It turned out that Kristal’s bluntness was later a trait favored by Edwin. “She would point it out when my acting wasn’t realistic enough, and my intuition told me that such straightforward people would not bear bad deeds.”

I am glad that Edwin Siu finally learned the true character of Kristal Tin. Otherwise they might not have acted so well in “Brother’s Keeper”.
Sandcherry,
Kristal Tin gets along well with many of her co-stars and has good chemistry with them. Edwin seems pretty easygoing as well. I’m sure their “bad impressions” of each other didn’t last for too many days.
Agree. I guess it is good to get along with all your co-stars if you want to act well and naturally.
It’s kinda funny because when I first learnt of the casting, I was like surprised, because I just couldn’t imagine them paired up. And that’s somewhat strange, because I think she generally has good chemistry with her co stars (with perhaps Bowie Lam in Every Move You Make being the biggest exception).
But funnily enough when I watched Brothers Keeper, I thought they had chemistry. Can’t imagine that they didn’t get along at the start. Wonder which part of the show that would have been though.
