Complicated Love Rectangle for Charlene Choi, William Chan, Angelababy, and Ronald Cheng?
Earlier in March this year, Charlene Choi and Ronald Cheng Chung Kei’s secret marriage and subsequent divorce were revealed. Shortly after Charlene separated from Ronald, there were rumors that she was dating a wealthy man. It turns out that Charlene is truly dating EEG colleague, William Chan Wai Ting instead!
Rumors claim that Ronald Cheng (while married to Charlene) may have pursued Angelababy last year, who was dating William Chan at the time. During the filming Happy Home<花田囍事2010>, Ronald allegedly sent her frequent text messages. An inside source said, “One time, Angelababy saw a beautiful outfit in a magazine and asked for Ronald’s opinion. Ronald quickly asked his friend in Hong Kong to purchase the item and send it to mainland [where they were filming at the time]. Angelababy was ecstatic over the gesture. Ronald used the same gesture when he pursued Miriam Yeung Chin Wah. Angelababy told her friends that a ‘CEO’ [the title refers to Ronald’s father’s position as Director of EMI Asia] was pursuing her. When the news reached Charlene’s ears, she was hurt deeply.” Labeled as the third party in Charlene and Ronald’s relationship last year, Angelababy was quite upset.
Furthermore, rumors claim that Charlene and William may have fallen in love during the filming of Beauty on Duty <美麗密令> last year. At that time, Charlene was still married with Ronald and William was dating model, Angelababy. William started dating Angelababy after they filmed a Disney program together in 2005. Since the pair was often separated due to work schedules, Angelababy and William broke up last year.
Dispelling the rising cheating rumors, Charlene clarified the timing of her relationship with William. Charlene said, “We just started dating. We were both single at the time and have been together for three months.” Charlene added that she has been friends with William for a long time. Due to their frequent work collaborations, it was very natural for mutual feelings to develop.
William also stressed that he and Charlene were single when they started dating. “I did not want to hide our dating relationship because I did not want to hurt Charlene. We decided to admit our dating publicly because we want to lead happy, normal relationship where we can hold hands publicly when we go shopping and to the theaters. We hope to receive everyone’s blessing.” William also said that he did not mind that Charlene was married previously.
Charlene’s ex-husband, Ronald Cheng, was rumored to be dating anchor woman, Yu Si Man. Ronald said, “I had dinner with her a few times. We are still in the development stage and not much can be said.” Ronald gave his blessings to Charlene and William regarding their dating relationship.
Some netizens even declared that Charlene’s dating of William was to seek revenge on Angelababy, who was was rumored with Ronald Cheng. Nevertheless, Charlene’s good friends, Gillian Chung and Joey Yung Cho Yi, sent their blessings and told William to treasure Charlene.

Jayne: Ronald and Charlene’s marriage seemed to be on the verge of collapse by the end of 2009, which was when Charlene started filming a movie with William Chan and when Ronald was rumored to be pursuing Angelababy. I enjoyed the article. I always thought that both Gillian and Ah Sa were very innocent girls but of course, we all know about Gillian’s incident and now Ah Sa’s divorced this year and new boyfriend. nothing wrong with it but that looks can be deceiving;)

Yea, what is the point of this article anyways?? We all know that life in the circle is hard and that people don’t look the way the really are. Looks can be really deceiving. I used to think that even when couples are married, they will stay together for life since marriage “should” be a more secure bond, but I guess not anymore.
In the circle, you are constantly surrounded by attractive people so temptation is hard to resist, even if you are “married”. I also have a feeling that William and Charlene will not last long..
In one of our past discussions, we discussed at length motivations of cheating and infidelity in love relationships. My vision of love in life is quite idealistic. I hope marriage lasts forever.
Relationships seem to be treated as more disposable now. We live in a self centered society where everything is about instant self gratification and pursuing the moment. If we’re not happy in a relationship, we get easily tempted, flirt and cheat with others around us.

Charlene sacrificed a her youth in her twenties, growing up before the audience. The spectacular success of Twins had a big price. IMO, she is now dating William because it represents a carefree love and she is chasing back her youth. It is more of a love of the moment that she is pursuing now. I find William to be a tad bit immature.
There are also rumors that William and Gillian had been dating for 2 months, and that Charlene is the 3rd person breaking them up.
Articles on Charlene and Gillian fighting for guys are a bit absurd. I see Ah Sa with the high EQ to not place herself in such situations.
I do hope Gillian will find her happiness. I know she’s got a rough path ahead of her.
Can’t be any rougher than what happened before. She just had to suck it in and move on, like Cecilia did. But of course Cecilia was more forthcoming in her attempt to rebuild her character and redeem herself in the eyes of the public. I always thought she should have fired her old PR if she didn’t and hire a better one.
Jayne I hardly call having a successful career and in pursuing of it a sacrifice. She had a choice; she could walk away which she didn’t. And she should count herself extremely lucky to have such success for someone who is awful in all areas she is supposed to be doing, except I feel she has a tad more sense than Gillian.
Speaking of firing PR/managers, Mani would be on top of my list. Why was she sculpted as such an angel?!? And on top of that, Mani always favored Ah Sa more so even in the beginning, Ah Sa had all the opportunities.
In many terms, Ah Gil ranked higher than Ah Sa (singing, acting, looks, figure). Ah Sa’s EQ really got her everything she has now.
I’ve always preferred Charlene’s deeper voice over Gillian’s voice in terms of singing. But, I do agree that Gillian is a tad bit better in singing skill. As for look. To each his own. Gillian’s is the sweet jade girl look while Charlene’s the sunshine happy go lucky look. My mom and my sis both prefer Charlene over Gillian and I know several Taiwanese idol actors who openly professed to be a fan of Charlene i.e. Danson Tang, Alien Huang, Mike He. Mike He may be for promotion of their drama, but, Danson and Alien were not. They were talking about their admiration of Charlene in their own program and interviews that have nothing to do with any promotion.
I also disagree that Charlene has ALL the opportunities. Charlene and Gillian both have lead in movies before. Some movies, Gillian was lead while Charlene was supporting and vice-versa.
Gillian was sculpted as an angel because she has an angelic look. So, her management cash in on that. Sculpting Charlene as an angel wouldn’t be so successful, imho. Anyway, glad that she’s standing back up again. But, I do pity her that in order to get back up, she has to be spokeperson of a beer brand and inject her legs with botox. Hope she can later put this behind her.
Having a successful career doesn’t mean the thing she gave up for this success was not a sacrifice.
Um…smells fishy. Isn’t Charlene’s new album coming out soon? I don’t think it’s a coincidence that she announced her divorce before the release of a new movie and now, this story comes out before her album release. Very fishy.
