Carina Lau’s Skincare Company Attracts Purchase Offer of $312.5 Million HKD
Everyone knows Carina Lau (劉嘉玲) as an extremely successful film star, but few are aware that she is also an astute businesswoman, whose recent ventures include restaurants in both Hong Kong and Mainland China, nightclubs, and a skincare company. In fact, the skincare company named after herself, Carina Lau International, is so successful that within three months of its establishment, a listed company has expressed interest in purchasing its shares.
Carina Lau International sells skincare products made from all-natural deep sea marine ingredients. Targeting the Mainland Chinese market, the official launch of its facial masks took place last November.
Known for its expansion into the entertainment business, listed company Digital Domain Holdings Limited recently announced that it will be purchasing 51 percent of Carina Lau International shares for a staggering HKD $312.5 million. Nevertheless, the outcome of the deal will depend on whether Carina Lau International can achieve its profit target of $31.25 million HKD for this year. If the profit target is not achieved, Digital Domains may reduce its offer price.
Reportedly, Carina current holds 40 percent of Carina Lau International shares. If the deal goes through, she will pocket a cool $125 million HKD. Carina remained modest on the subject, “The deal has not been made yet. I am still waiting for our profits to hit the target before we can go through with the deal. It has been extremely stressful! I will be spending a lot of time at my company this year.”

Carina is a beautiful woman, but she looks horrible without make up. Having said that I still think she aged well. At least not to botox-ed, nor stick thin like Maggie Cheung. She looks much better compared many women of her age.
Carina is a beautiful and strong woman. After all that happened to her she still can live life to the fullest. She’s a great example.
Quite frankly I find it rather preposterous a “nameless” (well with Carina Lau’s name on it) skincare company could be valued at HKD312.5 million, especially when it has only been in existence for 3 months? Money laundering and insider trading…sounds likely…
Good On her! Hope she make the profit target!
