Wayne Lai to Lead TVB Series for the First Time
Wayne Lai Yiu Cheung, Rabeea Yeung, Gregory Lee Wing Ho, and other TVB artists born in the month of May appeared at the “May Birthday Party Celebration.” Wayne’s birthday was on May 4th, thus he already celebrated with his family. Delightfully surprising Wayne, his son delivered Wayne’s gift via a remote controlled airplane.
Wayne also has another ideal birthday present. In July, Wayne will be filming new series “Wives and Mistresses In Groups”《妻妾成群》as the main lead actor.
Leading a series for the first time, will Wayne be overly nervous? Wayne said he will film with a normal attitude. Whether he plays a lead or supporting role does not have an impact on him. Jayne: A BIG congratulations to Wayne Lai! His acting has received raving reviews from both critics and viewers; it is truly wonderful to see that TVB is now promoting him as a lead actor.
The new series sounds like a comedy; Wayne has perfect comic timing, so it should display his talents well. In my opinion, TVB is trying to prime the next Bobby Au Yeung, who will likely film less and less series in the next five years. We have once supporting actors such as Michael Tse and Wayne Lai now taking lead roles, which is wonderful, since these actors have worked hard for many years and polished their acting skills.
Really curious as to which actresses will pair with Wayne in the new series. Who will play the wife versus mistress roles? If TVB is truly pushing Wayne as the next big thing, they need to pair him with a quality actress who also excels in comedies. My first choice is Esther Kwan. Smile The mistress role will likely fall on a former Miss Hong Kong who can barely act though.
