Kate Tsui: “Ron Ng and I Are Only Brothers!”
Kate Tsui Chi San wore $40 million (HKD) in diamonds at a jewelry promotional event. Kate expressed her excitement in the jewelry she was modeling, “I am very happy and excited. This is the most expensive set of jewelry I have ever worn! It is worth close to $40 million (HKD) and simply what I always dreamed of!”
Kate indicated that the criteria in choosing a partner were filial piety and a strong sense of responsibility. Asked whether rumored flame, Ron Ng Cheuk Hei, possessed these qualities, Kate said, “My good brother? In fact, we have partnered in many series together. This is not the first time [the media reported] on romantic rumors. Of course this is not true! Let’s consider the romantic rumors as publicity for the series. Since Ron and I have the same manager, we know each other well. We are good friends and brothers!”
Defends Ron Ng’s Integrity
Recent tabloids portrayed Ron Ng as a player, claiming that he pursued TVB colleague, Sire Ma Choi, and used her money. When asked whether Ron was pursuing Sire, Kate said, “I don’t know. We are brothers and don’t discuss these issues. Maybe he considered me to be a ‘man’ and did not tell me.”
Did Kate swear that she and Ron were not dating? Kate replied, “I am numbed by the frequent rumors!”
Kate defended Ron’s integrity and noted it was unfair for tabloid to claim that he used women’s money, “He is not like that. We always split the bill [when we eat out].”

Jayne: I do wonder who Kate might be dating. I can see Kate and Moses as a couple, but that’s out of the question since he is interested in Aimee Chan now.
Why does every guy call her their “brother” I mean doesn’t she want them to be a least a little interesteed in her? But at least she has a boyfriend rumor guy. I mean like Bosco and Myolie, Ray and Linda, (before) Moses and Bernice. At least she has one, unlike Tavia…eh Ron and Kate kinda do look like siblings though, I can’t really see them as a couple.
Some ppl said Kate is very tomboy. Guys dun see her any different to a boy. Some fans calls her “San gor” :P.
I think both Kate and Tavia are tomboys, so their male colleagues call them their “brother” instead. So, it’s rare to have rumors with them. In this case, I think it’s because Ron and Kate have paired up together many times and know each other too well. I think they probably would have gotten together by now if it was true. I see this as a promotional tactic for “Forensic Heroes 3.”
@ Aly: They have different tomboy type.
Ron and Kate paired in:
1. OTEB (a little)
2. BOL
3. Dropping from 9th cloud
4. FH3
5. Reunion
Any more, I dun rmb.
I do remember reading somewhere ages ago that Bosco had a crush on Kate.. Hmmm I don’t remember when and in what series sparked this..
The Price of Greed and only came up once during the filming.
Later on he addressed Kate as a “brother” 😛
Kate looks really good in those pictures. Too bad she’s a horrible actress :p
I don’t think Ron and her look much like a couple. I love her comment that they split the bill when they go out lol
I wonder why there’s ALWAYS rumors between Ron + other girls, but never rumors between Taro? Even after the pic of Ron arm around Tavia’s waist, the reporters didn’t even make a big deal out of it? 😛
@Ting Tavia admitted that she acts like a tomboy and she’s very playful with everyone, including males. She doesn’t quite act that the typical Hong Kong girls so there’s probably no point in writing her. And although Kate has a strong personality and is tomboy too, she has a sexy appeal that Tavia doesn’t.
@Ting,
Didn’t Tavia have a crush on Ron a long time ago at the start of their careers?
that is correct Jayne, Tavia did have a crush on Ron back in the days, but who wouldn’t 😉
Glad most of you share my sentiment. Can’t stand Kate, she always looks so pissed-off all the time. Bad acting, bad singing, not sure why TVB is promoting her.
I’m not surprised too if Tavia fell for Ron before. Who wouldn’t fell for a guy this handsome and adorable?
@ jayzemine: Because there are many ppl who dun think she has bad acting and bad singing or dun mind her acting or singing. TVB promotes her because they see the value in her.
Yes, and she’s the only one within the younger generation who has a HKFA and whom the likes of Johnnie To, Peter Chan and Teddy Chan have praised.
A lot of people here may not see any worth in her, but she’s obviously a lot more appreciated outside TVB, which says a lot about the appreciation standards of a lot of TVB watchers who think so-and-so are ‘great’ actors/actresses.
Ugh please go away already – horrible actress and even more horrible singer.
Lol
+1.
Lmao. +2
@ Pvt.Joker: Agree. Can’t stand her either! I betcha that she went to the same acting schools as Bernice Liu. Same facial expressions in every series. Is it me or what, it seems like whenever she speaks her lines, it seems like she is chewing something in her mouth that cause her to mumble. Ugh, can’t imagine her with Ron. Nooooooooo Way!!!
@Lacey
Agree too. Kate can only have those expressions of wanting to kill people.
Her voice is kinda annoying too
agreed, sometimes it seems like she tries to use a baby/child voice to talk. However, I do think she is one of the prettiest and most unique looking tvb actress.
Ugh, Kate’s dress…?
She pick a wrong dress this time
..is ugly. The two models beside her look a lot prettier than her and they’re only in plain dresses.
For some reason I can only see her dating rich old guys…and wouldn’t be surprised if she did.
What is that reason? Can be more specific?
@Lol Actually, I don’t think so. Kate appears to be the very independent and strong type and doesn’t seem to need to live off of wealthy men. I would think she’ll want someone whose mature and maybe one with good looks over more than one with lots of money, but is unattractive.
I thought Kate was once said to be a kept woman of some old man?
Dun think she will like Ron.
that would be Tracy Yip.. i think Kate only had rumours with Leon Lai initially when she first started her showbiz career, as being a kept woman.
She doesn’t seem like Ron’s type…
Kate also has rumours of being girlfriend of Hermsn Yau when she first started acting.
I think Kate is too hot for Moses. I don’t think he can handle her. Ron I thought likes big bosom girls?
Funn, yes Ron and Raymond both seem to prefer buxom women. Earlier, tabloids printed photos of the women Ron was rumored to date, they included the buxom Wong Ying (former Miss HK participant), American-Chinese PR woman in USA, and Viann Zhang.
I still find it a little harsh when Ron stated that Sire Ma is not his type. It’s the equivalent of saying he doesn’t find her attractive.
Ella Koon and Charmaine don’t have big bosom.
I actually find it kind of sad if Ron and Raymond only like big boobed girls since most of them have big boobs due to breast implants. Which in turn means that they seem to like women who are unnatural and plastic… Hm… maybe that was why Ray went for that one girl…(don’t want to mention her name and her stories seemed to have died down).
But then Ron is honest. Why drag his feet when he is not interested right? He is blunt since he doesn’t have that education to be gentlemanly in is rejection and response. That is the truth.
As for Ella Koon I was so surprised when I logged into Godaddy and there was her face, as spokesperson for Godaddy. She must be in desperate need of money. And she looks so different.
There’s this theory that men who like women with big breasts reflects a certain self insecurity. This seems true since Ray cried on TV 😛 hahahhahahaha
i’m not quite sure is it just me or, everytime i see kate tsui, i feel her face is very manly. For some reason i just skip most of her series. Don’t know why.
ha ha, me thinks she is masculine looking as well, it has to be her square jaws and funny eyes. Glad to read someone thinks the same thing as me.
@ita,
I also find Kate a bit masculine looking. She sort of looks like Eva Huang Sheng Yi, but except Eva is prettier. I don’t watch series for the cast so maybe you are watching more for the story than the cast, therefore, you don’t skip a series just because she is in it?? Even if an actor/ actress that I did not like was in a series that I seemed interesting, I would watch it since there is way more to a series than just the cast.
let me correct that. I will most probably skip if she’s lead actress. Try to watch before but left it half way. For supporting character at least i can just skip her part if the story line is good. I think it’s her acting that turn me off not so much of her look.
I am not a fan of Kate’s work. I avoid watching her stuff. I found her acting to be flat and not convincing. She is attractive. But it isn’t she going the sexy image path in her singing career and the way she dresses? I can’t relate all of that as being a tom-boy side, if that’s what she claim she is? A total contradiction!
The sexy image is set by her music company. I remember her saying that she didn’t know she’s sexy when she dance until the MV director told her. The sexy dance was taught to her. She didn’t choreograph the dance herself. It’s not a recent thing that she claim to be tomboy. She has been consistent in doing so. Before she participate in the pageant, she didn’t even wear much make up.
Maybe she did enjoy her new found sexiness. I don’t know. But, I believe her when she said she’s a tomboy or used to be a tomboy.
A tomboy who loves diamonds…hmmm…interesting.
Tomboy cannot love diamonds?
You guys are too funny.
Tomboy? She is smouldering hot, BUT crazy sort of smouldering hot. Like she can kiss you passionately and a second later stab you to death as passionately. Scary woman.
I didn’t like Kate until I watched Relic of an Emissary.
For some reason I really dislike her role in Relic. I just feel Kate belongs in modern series… She gives off a very modern type of charm to me, makes her seem out of place with most of the other major cast members.
I find Elanne Kwong and Leung Ka-ki a lot more out of place than Kate, actually. But yes, I do agree that Kate still has that modern feel to her. But she is such a likeable character (IMO). I really like strong anti-heroine type roles. My other favorite character in Relic is Sammul’s Sam-po.
Yea, Elanne is also slightly out of place but because she’s playing a likeable character its more easily accepted. Leung Ka Kei is out of place in everything. She’s actually alright as MC.
I found it odd when I heard Sammul was playing a historical character that is a enunch. Turns out I was right. Every major female role in the series is after Michael Tse. That’s what happens when you don’t contract with TVB- you don’t get Kate Tsui, or Elanne Kong or Sire ma or Grace Wong etc etc etc
I actually heard otherwise. I was browsing through the HK discuss forums and no one gave good reviews of Elanne. On the other hand, Joe, Sammul, and Kate were praised. Joe’s steamy scenes with both Sammul and Kate were hot topics. XD
I’m pretty sure the reason why Sammul was casted to play Zheng He was because of his looks. I don’t think this has anything to do with him leaving TVB. Even if Sammul became a biological son, I’m sure he’ll still be casted as Zheng He. But instead of cutting some of his scene, they’ll add more scenes.
@scarelee, What did people say about Elanne?
Agree that Elanne’s character is easily likable, but she’s only doing the minimum and isn’t adding to the character. It might be her being new to acting and this is only her second role. I would agree that it’s more worthy to talk about Joe and Kate’s performances because their characters are more complex, multi-layered and interesting. Despite not liking Joe much, he’s doing an amazing job and he’s definitely carrying his role with some fierce and intensity. Sammul’s character is also very likable. Kate looks gorgeous and very sexy in her ancient costumes. Although she can still improve on her performance, I find her the most suitable TVB actress to film this role (Shum Chin Sam, that is. Not the twin sister that much.)
@SDS, Lol at your comment about Michael getting all the ladies. And you forgot to mention Jessie Shum. I believe Michael likes Kate and maybe Elanne (not sure about Elanne), but Kate’s heart is with Joe. Grace likes Michael too? I really like Grace and her passion, but she’s actually kinda distracting and annoying to watch as an actress. I’m not sure if it’s because of her roles or the way she speaks her lines, but she sounds quite bitchy.
Kaki is really a distraction and annoying to watch if her character wasn’t so nice and supportive of the Emperor. While TVB wants to maintain the cast for E.U., why couldn’t they just switch in another actress for her role? Anyone probably would have been better. When Skye Chan would be better off as the Empress. Her emotional scenes are really hard to watch. My image of an Empress, even if she is a beauty, should at least be more attractive.
Despite Sire’s passion for acting, she isn’t delivering such a good performance.
The males are giving good, if not great, performances, but the females are only pretty to look at.
@ scarlee
“Joe’s steamy scenes with both Sammul”
Joe’s steamy scenes with Sammul?
Their bathing scene very steamy? Or is there other steamy scene? 😛
I am thinking also. Steamy as in literally (which means a sauna might be involved) or figuratively (Oh TVB, really? Definite ratings guaranteed!)
LOL I meant it both literally and figuratively 😀 I’ve always thought it would be better if YSNS and Relic switched time slots considering Relic’s scenes are much racier and more violent. But IDK – maybe TVB wants to concentrate on promoting YSNS more? Later time slots do draw in higher ratings.
@ Chriselle
“Despite not liking Joe much, he’s doing an amazing job and he’s definitely carrying his role with some fierce and intensity. “
Joe seems to perform well whenever he played an Emperor. He also did very well as King Fu Chai in The Conquest. To me, Fu Chai is Joe’s best performance (I’ve not seen Relics).
@Chriselle Elanne’s definitely not new to acting. She has already filmed a lot of movies already, but I do understand that filming dramas and movies are a big difference and can be a difficult transition.
From what I can remember, the people in the discussion forums were complaining about Elanne’s voice, her speech, her character’s “spoiled-but-not-exactly princess” personality and the way how she holds herself. Her ways of acting don’t exactly translate well when it comes to period dramas.
@scarlee, I haven’t seen any of her movies yet. Have you? Does she often get leading roles or simply guest stars and cameos?
I agree that Elanne’s voice makes her feel like she’s reciting the lines more than acting them out. As long as she doesn’t go overboard, it’s not annoying to me. Lol, I expected her character to have the princess attitude too. Her character name “Wing Yeung” means “forever sunshine” and that adheres to her personality of making everyone around her happy. I don’t understand why netizens complained about her character for not being princessy, wouldn’t it be less annoying this way?
@Chriselle I actually have not seen any of her movies. I just checked up her wiki page and apparently she has a lot of films and dramas under her belt. Never realized this. I only remember seeing her in EU. XD
They’re not complaining about Princess Wing-yeung being not princess enough, but because she’s too much of a typical TVB princess. Wing-yeung is outgoing, loud, brave, but also very kind and innocent. Elanne’s poorly delivered lines also don’t help much. I guess HK viewers don’t like that princess stereotype that TVB has been conveying. I also didn’t like watching Wing-yeung at first either because I thought she was annoying and didn’t think her character contributes much to the plot. But she’s slowly growing in me. I still find her significant, but she’s bearable now.
Oh wow, so many typos lol. I meant to say insignificant*
@scarlee TVB haven’t been producing that many ancient historical productions in the recent years and there haven’t been that many princess roles. The only other significant one that comes to mind is Can’t Buy Me Love where all the princesses are spoiled. I think spoiled princesses are more the stereotype, but Princess Wing Yeung is also a common character that we see in every TVB series. Kindhearted, playful, innocent, and likable. Although Elanne doesn’t seem to do much for the plot historically, she’s still another lighthearted character to watch. The series itself is rather dark and can be depressing and moody to watch at times, so I’m glad her character is there to balance it out.
@Chriselle In other words, Wing-yeung is a stock character, a recyclable character, which is one of the many reasons why I’m not very fond of her. The sad thing about TVB is that they always have similar princesses. They’re either spoiled (like the CBML princesses) or cheerful and bubbly like Wing-yeung. Those are the only sides we get to see, and we all know that there are more to princesses than just those two portrayals.
But I do agree that Wing-yeung is somewhat of a relief in Relic because everyone else is so dark and scheming. I guess in the end, what bothers me the most is Elanne’s delivery and not the actual character.
Despite what Kate says about being a tomboy, I find her very, very sexy. It’s her confidence, eyes and the way she dances.
There’s a saying that the way you dance offers a clue in your bed moves. It’s an indication of how comfortable you are with your body. Flexibility always helps.
So who are good dancers? Kate Tsui, Bosco Wong
Additional good dancers:
Ron Ng, Aaron Kwok, Jolin Tsai, William Chan, Bernice Liu, Fala Chen, Stephen Huyhn, Wong Cho Lam
Hehe and dancing involves having good rthymn, which enhances bedroom skills. 😉
Aka bedroom dancing 🙂

Agree with what Jayne said! 😀 Kate is definitely a better dancer than actress.
But if I were to say she is not that good a dancer, then what does it say about her acting?
Maybe she is a hidden talent when it comes to ermm… singing?
@ Jayne
“Additional good dancers:
Ron Ng, Aaron Kwok, Jolin Tsai, William Chan, Bernice Liu, Fala Chen, Stephen Huyhn, Wong Cho Lam”
Stephen Huynh is actually not a very good dance. He’s movement is not that smoothing. He acquired his dancing skill through sheer hard work when he participate in Season 1 of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. But, he’s not a natural talent. Even one of the judges said he doesn’t have talent in dancing but he make it up with hardwork.
So many typo error. Need to retype.
@ Jayne

Although I really like Ron, he isn’t a good dancer anymore. Judge from his performance in LF’s C2M concert.
Good dancer in TVB? Grace, Kate and Michael.
@ Fox
I actually never find Ron a good dancer. Maybe I did not see enough of his dancing. But, from the limited number of times I saw him dance, he didn’t seem particularly good.
Aaron Kwok, Michael Tse and William Chan are definitely good.
Aaron Kwok of course, he was a dancer and he was to me the best of the lot. The rest are probably just gyrating to the music.
lol. Well I find her personality pretty tomboy and the way she talks. If you listen/watch her interviews you can see she’s a bit tomboy. She was probably more tomboy at the beginning of her career, since she always didn’t have much makeup on, always had cop roles, and wear not that revealing clothes. It’s the image that people, and the roles she is getting now that makes her not as tomboy especially as a singer image (the dance route). Btw she has been dancing since she was young, I remember she singing her mom put her into dancin lessons that’s why she can dance well.
Other good dancers: Grace Wong, leanne li?
While I don’t find Kate having a good range, I found her convincing in badass roles.
I love her in Relic as “Cho Cho”. She doesn’t even need to try too hard, it comes naturally for her and she’s sensually strong.
I prefered her character as the other character (the big sister).. Maybe I just like her badass roles 😉 It’s very sexy. Although I have to agree, when she was in her ‘cho cho’ role it doesn’t even seem like Kate cuz I’m so used to her badass roles. I can’t wait to see her in modern series.
I hated her as Chor Chor, it was cringe worthy every time she spoke. She’s not the kind of girl to act like she’s 10 with the way she puts on the cute voice.
I like her badass rolein relic too haha She has this edginess about her.
@Masaharu
Are you accidentally exchanged Cho Cho and her twin? The big sister is the sexier and full of sensuality and more natural for Kate!
@cinsin
Me too. I cringe at Cho Cho but I like the badass Kate
I do find Kate VERY attractive, a sexual attraction as well, and I’m a girl. I think she is good in bed, just a feeling. haha. Her blunt/fun personality +1… i feel that she is almost like Tavia sometimes, except a little bit shy and more lady-like.
I think Grace, Kate, Michael, are actually good dancers. Ron… maybe a little stiff… maybe because he was a dancer in the beginning of his career that gives an impression that he SHOULD be a good dancer? I find Bosco’s dancing a lot better 😀
dont any feel that kate is very similar to angelina jolie?
