Hu Ge: “I Don’t Have a Girlfriend Right Now”

Mainland Chinese actor Hu Ge (胡歌) admitted during a press conference earlier that he had officially broken up with actress Maggie Jiang (江疏影).

After meeting on the set of the sports drama, Go! Goal! Fighting! <旋風十一人>, in July of last year, Hu Ge and Maggie went public with their relationship near the end of December. Despite not knowing each other for long, the two appeared to be serious about the relationship, even moving in together for a period of time.

During the dating stage, however, neither Hu Ge nor Maggie spoke up about their romance, not even to deflect the countless rumors that they had split up. In fact, it was not until recently that the two admitted that they had indeed gone their separate ways.

While attending a recent press conference for his spy drama, The Disguiser <偽裝者>, Hu Ge originally appeared to be in high spirits. However, his mood took a dip when he was asked how he had spent Chinese Valentine’s Day; his voice immediately dropped, and he responded that he had spent the day working.

Reporters then asked if he had spent the day with a new girlfriend, to which Hu Ge responded, “I don’t have a girlfriend right now.”

Although other reporters tried to press on with questions about looking for another girlfriend and the reason behind his breakup with Maggie, Hu Ge adopted a very serious expression on his face and refused to answer any more queries regarding his love life. Instead, he requested that the media focus on The Disguiser. A staff member present also brought any romance-related questions to an immediate halt.

The Disguiser will begin airing on Hunan TV on August 31. Go! Goal! Fighting! has yet to confirm an official broadcast date.
