Synopsis of “Momentary Lapse of Reason”

Louis Cheung (張繼聰) and Tavia Yeung’s (楊怡) Momentary Lapse of Reason <收規華> has been airing since August 31. In contrast to the modern day dramas, Momentary Lapse of Reason features a pre-modern backdrop, centering on the corrupted realities of the police force during that time.

At first glance, Gam Wah (Louis Cheung) comes off as an arrogant, selfish, and corrupted officer – however, he is more than meets the eye. During a human trafficking investigation, Gam Wah meets Leung Sum (Tavia Yeung) and Fa Ying Yuet (Lin Xia Wei 林夏薇), who both possess deep hatred for human traffickers after being victims when they were children.

Leung Sum also distrusted police officers like Gam Wah, who seemingly cross legal boundaries to satisfy their goals. However, Leung Sum finds herself falling for Gam Wah’s conscientious partner, Shum Yat Yin (Matt Yeung 楊明) despite being a “Mah Jeh” – someone who vows to never get married. While Yat Yin and Leung Sum slowly fall in love with each other, their relationship is put to the test when Yat Yin is fired from the office.

At the same time, Gam Wah begins to question his corrupted ways when a witness dies due to a bribe he received. Besides slowly learning to become a good police officer again, Gam Wah struggles with his feelings for Leung Sum, who still maintains a dislike for him and his lawless behavior.
