Angelababy and Ethan Ruan’s Awkward Bed Scene In “Kill Time”

It was a sexy yet awkward collaboration for Angelababy (杨颖) and Ethan Ruan (阮经天), who plays lovers in this year’s Valentine’s Day murder-mystery Kill Time <谋杀似水年华>.

The cryptic romance film, which is Hong Kong director Fruit Chan’s (陈果) first Mainland Chinese production, is adapted from the popular novel of the same name by suspense author Cai Jun (蔡骏). It stars Angelababy as Tian Xiaomai, who discovers a connection between her former boyfriend (Ethan Ruan) and her father’s death. She proceeds to solve the mystery herself, unleashing dark secrets.

In the movie, which was shot in Beijing in late 2014, Angelababy and Ethan shared quite a few intense bed scenes together. But their close friendship in real life did nothing to ease down the nerves while doing the sex scenes—in fact, it made everything worse.

Ethan, who is very close to Angelababy’s husband Huang Xiaoming (黄晓明), said kissing Angelababy felt “very wrong” and jokingly apologized to Xiaoming. He even asked the director if he could tone it down on some of the intimate scenes, but Fruit Chan obviously denied his request.

Kill Time was released in Mainland China on Valentine’s Day 2016. It also stars Zhang Chao (张超), Rayza Alimjan (热依扎), and Hao Lei (郝蕾).
