Vicki Zhao Returns as Director for “No Other Love”
Vicki Zhao Wei (赵薇) is once again at the helm for her second directorial movie No Other Love <没有别的爱>, which commenced shooting on Thursday, March 10. No Other Love is Vicki’s second collaboration with screenwriter and producer Li Qiang (李樯), who wrote the screenplay to Vicki’s directorial debut, 2013’s So Young <致我们终将逝去的青春>.
“Writer Li Qiang and I have developed a mutual understanding and trust after working on our first collaboration So Young,” said Vicki. “That facilitated this second collaboration. We really want to bring something entirely different this time around.”
Vicki has kept the production of No Other Love under tight wraps. Not much is known about the story, but Vicki hinted that the movie would be very different from her previous work. “The style and subject matter of No Other Love is different from So Young, but it will retain the same artistic and literary quality. I really hope [No Other Love] will be well-received by the market. Our crew will be working hard for the next four months.”
Vicki has put together an award-winning crew to bring No Other Love into the big screen. The movie will be shot by Zeng Jian (曾剑), who has won a Golden Rooster Award and an Asian Film Award for Best Cinematography. Hao Yi (郝艺), known for his work in blockbuster hits such as Lost in Thailand <人再囧途之泰囧> and Mojin: The Lost Legend <鬼吹灯之寻龙诀>, will be doing No Other Love’s production design.
The lead cast for No Other Love has not been announced yet, but the film studios stated that the cast members would be unveiled one by one in the coming weeks.
