Bosco Wong On King Kong: “He Gets Some Every Night”

Earlier this week, Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) and King Kong (金剛) went on the TVB talk show The Green Room <今日VIP> to chat about their upcoming film Buddy Cops <刑警兄弟> with host Leung Ka-ki (梁嘉琪). The category III comedy film, which is co-produced by TVB, stars Bosco and King Kong as two step brothers who struggle to get along as they are assigned to pursue a case. The movie opens in Hong Kong on April 22.

It took Buddy Cops three years to get a release. On why the movie was shelved for so long, King Kong joked that the movie is a big production and required a lengthy post-production period. Bosco added, “Movies like Avatar took ten years!”

As the movie was shot three years ago, Bosco and King Kong had initial worries that the film would feel dated for the audiences, but their concerns went away after viewing the trailer.

In terms of box office, King Kong said he has confidence in the movie as most of his friends would be watching it to support Bosco. “I told them that I’m also in the movie, but they got more excited when I told them Bosco was in it,” he joked.

Bosco disagreed, “I think more people are looking forward to see how elementary King Kong’s acting is. But I’m sure there are also a lot of people who are anticipating my AV [adult video] idol outfit.” The 35-year-old said he went to his limits to achieve the sexy, adult star look, adding, “Not only did I shave my legs, I also shaved my chest hair. And I ended up cutting myself while doing it.”

But Bosco isn’t the only member in the cast who had to take everything to the extreme. King Kong said he too had an extraordinary scene in the film. “I have a scene where I do something that all men would do when they’re lonely. Honestly, it was a very challenging scene for me!”

Bosco laughed and said, “That’s because you were never lonely! You get some every night!” King Kong quickly explained, “It’s not that! Do you know how stressful it is to do it while looking at nothing?”

Buddy Cops, produced by Eric Tsang (曾志偉) and directed by Peter Tsi (戚家基), also stars Charmaine Fong (方皓玟), Kate Tsui (徐子珊), and Jordan Chan (陳小春).
